Hasselblad CFV Digital Back User report

Thanks Mark, didn't know.

But.....

I have just downloaded the recent Flexcolour software (4.7), opened it up and naturally it asked for me to update my back, but when doing so the camera back beeped and then came up with Erro 9003 Internal area I have a CVF back

Any one else had this problem, I have e-mailed Hasselblad. Recharging my battery, hoping that's the problem, as I can't run power through laptop to CVF back.

When I connected my CFV via the firewire 800 plug to a Mac desktop G5, it said to unplug the back and turn the camera off ... ( I even removed the battery to be sure it was off), then it said to reconnect it to the computer... and it performed the update. I didn't use a battery at all, as the back is powered by the computer.

Afterwards, it also said "this is not a H camera" and ended the session ... which meant it couldn't update the camera firmware since there is none on the mechanical V series cameras.

I double checked and my CFV firmware has been updated to this new version 209 so I can use the new version of Flexcolor 4.7

Of special interest for Jurgen, this is one of the corrected firmware issues:

"- An issue which gave a “Tilt sensor needs calibration” error on CFV/CWD. "

Some advice please, I have down loaded flexcolour 4.7 on my wife's mac and it says "there is no default application specified to open the document flexcolor_4.7_installer-1.hqx" gives me a choice of applications to choose from but don't know which one to use. Flexcolour opened up fine on my p.c, wasn't expecting this problem on a Mac, I thought it would open up straight away. AS you can guess, I'm not a Mac person. Any suggestions?

Paul,

It is looking for Stuffit Expander which is a free download. Search for it on VersionTracker.com or MacMajorGeeks.com.

I have installed FLEXCOLOR on my MAC G5 and also on my MACBOOK yesterday with no trouble . The firmware upgrade to 209 was not initiated automatically , as with 4.6.7 , but I was prompted to click on "OK" buttons .
At the end I was instructed to power off the back , before removing the cable , but the back did not react at all . I had to remove the battery . As Marc , I did a double check , FIRMWARE Level 209 is installed .
And , yes friends , the "Tilt Sensor needs calibration" issue shall be solved with this firmware level . Hopefully yes .
Good bye TILT SENSOR , I dont want to see you any more .

Thank you Steve for the stuffit info, my next problem is when I go into applications and click on Flexcolour 4.7 installer, the flexcolour box pops up with the continue button, I press this and press all the ok buttons and it takes me through to the open page in applications, this is were my problems is, there is no flexcolour in the list provided, there's the old flexcolour 4.6.7 but not 4.7 ? Any suggestions

Paul,

I have not worked with d-----l so I can't add any thing. I am sure that someone else who is more knowledgeable about flexcolour will jump in.

Steve

Here is my new home . I have bought it today .
Taken with 905SWC + CFV BACK (using sync cable) . As you can see , the wires for a fast DSL connection are already there . An other aspect is , that the CFV back is very well able to be used for architecture photography .

How far have you proceeded with the installation of FLEXCOLOR 4.7 yet ? ? ?
I have installed Flexcolor already three times with no problems yet .

Create a new folder and name it (for ex&le 4.6.7) . Now move , using drag and drop , FLEXCOLOR 4.6.7 into that folder and store it on an other disk . If none available into a big enough free space , outside the OSX system space .

Now install FLEXCOLOR 4.7 into the application folder of your system .
You will see the ICON of 4.7 at the same position as the 4.6.7 ICON .
Now do a restart of your system . That will create new preferences for the new FLEXCOLOR .

When this installation was successful , power down your CPU and connect your CFV back , using the supplied FIREWIRE cable . Do not power on the CFV back . Power on your CPU , that in turn will power on your CFV back , Then follow the instruction you will receive .

Good luck . Jurgen

I am looking at Jotloob's photo ...

and the caption is "Cosy country fixer-upper, great views, close to transportation, great potential. Motivated seller."

I liked your photograph.

Although I publicly stated many times the CFv doesn't do it for me, I have to admit, that I don't get tired of admiring the film-like quality of yours and Marcs.

Thanks

Eduardo

I had the same problem when updating flexcolour, I had to remove the battery to power down the back, but all sorted now, shame I had to use my wife’s Mac to upgrade my CFV back as I can’t use the power through my dell laptop.

Paul

Beeing on firmware 209 now , I captured about 40 images and experienced no problems yet .
Have you had any bad experience yet ? ? ?

Jurgen
