Wilko,

You should know better than to blame my wonderful Windows machine for that.

These files are generated by an application called JBidwatcher.
That is something you installed for me.
Stupid thing generates endless lists of useless data that run into Gb.
I just remove these files whenever my hard disk gets overcrowded.
Nothing to it. Even I can do that. :)

Paul

JBidwatcher, our secret(?) weapon for winning eBay auctions without having to hang around behind a computer screen at night...

Wilko

Secret weapon

The weapon lost quite a lot of its power due to its refusal to list auctions that are not located within the US or aimed at the US.

Still it has given me a lot of pleasure to fire last second offers at auctions while not even being at home.

For some reason this thing now makes an unwanted error list that grows faster than cabbage.
Only way to solve this is to remove these files as they become too large.

I thought I would add a couple of images.

Paul

Very nice photos Paul! Which camera/lens/film?

On this problem of opening larger size images on a Mac. I use both a Windows PC (XP and Firefox) and a Mac (OSX 10.5 and Safari). I hadn't used my Mac for awhile until last evening and I encountered the same problem others have noticed. So clearly something has changed on the forum software side....I didn't have this problem a few months ago with my Mac system. Just another point of reference. Certainly nothing has changed with respect to my Mac itself.

Mac problems.

I will ask Dirk to take a look at the picture problem Mac users have after the latest software update from the forum.
What was it I said about Mac??

Thanks Paul. I don't use my Mac regularly, but I would hope our forum's software would work on all user's computers and Internet browsers....excepting Linux of course. ;-)

Something about apples being your favorite fruit, if I recall. :z04_computer_haukap

You are right apples, only I do not like apples where somebody else has already taken a bite from........:(

It seems , that I have a paradise apple .
I am using MAC OSX 10.5.6 and FIREFOX and do not experience any problems at all .
BTW , firefox is for free :z04_whip2_1:and much better than SAFARI

Best regards Jürgen

Hm, I do not agree. Safari is a extremely fast browser, and it works very well in my experience. I only use Firefox on the Mac if Safari does not want to work on a specific page. With the IE-infested websites we have out there you sometimes have to: "This site is optimized for IE-7 at 600x800. Please upgrade your browser" nonsense, you know what I mean. :z04_pc2:

In fact , I have a very power MAC PRO3 here and I am running SAFARI and FIREFOX in parallel with two screens . (20 + 23 inches)
I decided for this hardware , when I noticed , that I can not upgrade my G5 with a sufficient GC for PHOCUS .
I use SAFARI for all internet access except for our forum .
The forum connection is exclusivly done by FIREFOX .:z04_smiliebath:

Hi Jurgen,

I use Firefox exclusively on my Windows PC machines (XP desktop and Vista laptop) and love it. As I mentioned, I haven't been using my Macs much yet, so I've just been running Safari, but I think now may be a good time to install Firefox on the Mac. I've got a 15 inch Macbook Pro that's about 6 months old and a new Mac Pro tower unit with 16GB RAM and two 500GB internal drives that is still in the box. My plan is to dedicate one drive to Mac OS and one drive to Windows....so in theory at least, I should have the best of both worlds (if I ever get it setup).

I really should switch over to my Macs, but I've been reluctant to take the time to set everything up and work thru whatever problems I may encounter. I've been doing alot of printing lately and I have a Win XP desktop system that is working good (it's just a little slow with not as much RAM as I really need, but can't be upgraded any further).

In any case, I'll move ahead with putting Firefox on the Macbook Pro.

A MacPro with 16GB.. right. Still in the box?? How do you suppress the temptation to open that box??

Wilko,

It's the thought of all the hassle I'm likely to encounter switching systems right when I'm on a roll with multiple print exchanges etc. Winter is my most productive time of the year for printing and I hate the thought of spending time trying to get a new system up and running. Besides which....I'm a born procrastinator.....as my wife would be the first to tell you!

Hi Jurgen,

Just installed Firefox on my Macbook Pro. Images load just fine now, as you said they would. :z04_discosmilie:

To celebrate, I'll add another of my own to the collection here.

:D Well.. as you have guessed by now: no carton box with new toys of whatever shape or form remains unopened over here. Time to opening is only dependent on the time it takes me to find a pocket knife.

I could not resist a second . :z04_whip2_1:

By the time I bought my MAC PRO3 , storage and disk storage was rather cheap . So I ended up with 4 x 500MB disk storage and 10GB RAM , but had only to pay for 8MB . GC is NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT , which is recommended , when you want to run PHOCUS .

Gary
Congratulation for your MAC PRO3 .
Your winters are long and cold and dark . So there should be plenty of time .
Get your fantastic machine installed :) .
You can do that in parallel to printing and don't forget to install FIREFOX .

Does that vintage car belong to you ? ? ?
I know a guy here in my place , who collects vintage Mercedes Cars .
I recently saw him driving an old 300SL cabriolet , open , at minus 8 C .
That freak .

Best regards Jürgen
