Hasselblad CFV Digital Back CONTINUED

I have followed Marcs good advice as well now .

My ARTIXSCAN 1800f (1800 ppi for all formats) will be replaced by an ARTIXSCAN F1 (A1) . This scanner will serve me very well , as I can scan all formats I use (4,5x6 , 6x6 , 6x9 , 6x12 , 4x5") at a resolution of 4800ppi . Thats at least what the specs say .

The order is placed and there is a delivery time of 2 - 3 weeks now .
The cost for the version with SILVER FAST Ai STUDIO scan software are 1005,00€ inclusive transport .

I will post my first results .

Hi Jurgen,
I have been told that the F1 is not available in the UK yet and the date when it will be is unknown due to a "production delay". The price also seems to be a bit higher than that here.

The MICROTEK web pages are not very helpful at all .
There are different sale packages . The lowest package is just the scanner , no SILVER FAST software .
The second is with SILVERFAST Ai, then with SILVERFAST Ai STUDIO and then SILVERFAST Ai STUDIO HDR etc. What a confusion for the customer . I bet , it's made intentionally , and they all differ in price . I decided to take the studio software , because the Ai I have would need an update (not free) anyway .
The delivery date will be around end of October .

So prices will be different in UK and Germany .
Sometimes I buy gear at RobertWhite , because of his good and fast service , sometimes even lower prices than here and the lower V.A.T. Shipping is no problem .

I will update with results .

Meanwhile, down at the farm, the analog, film-only, no battery, 'plain vanilla' 500 series and a Zeiss lens still makes images which please me. :)

Recipe: Take One Wet Sunday - add kitchen bench, one reading l& and foil reflector, 50FLE at closest, Delta 100 Pro, Ilford DD-X.

Organic photography (it was organically grown, too). Scanned V750M Silverfast. (Sorry, not spotted yet)

all the best with your Microtek-Scanner. As I do not need large format I ended up with a refurbished Nikon 8000 a few days ago. Before I start to show results I will have to get all the associated things right. Calibrate the monitor, calibrate the scanner, learn Silverfast and Nikon Scan and Photoshop, learn colour space and depth and all the other witchcraft. That may take some time as I am not at home very often at this time of the year.

I think , MICROTEK took over the AGFA DUO SCAN production many years ago .
My first scanner was an AGFA DUO SCAN 1000 , which was just good enough for 4x5" scans .
It had an SCSI interface . The second scanner was the ARTIXSCAN 1800f which still works , but I bought it for 4x5" scans and the resolution is too low for good MF scans .
I believe that MICRTEK is a very experienced company and I am not afraid of a desaster with the F1 .
Learning the SILVERFAST Ai software is as learning FLEXCOLOR from HASSELBLAD . Once you have the basics and your first good results , it encourages you to go on . So don't worry .

Tsss Tsss . Peter and the young girl dancers . Nice shots . Take care , they might get you drunk and "steel" your CFV BACK .

Not sure i like its plain vanilla flavour though.
I always felt the Zeiss/Hasselblad combination being so sharp they make my eyes water. Just like the onions we have here, up-above.

I still have a little studio project in my mind . Your onion image feeds my ideas very much again . I wanted to create a calender , with all available vegetables , very much like your onion . Thanks for bringing me back to that idea . I will use film , of course .

If the CFV engineering were to be used in a hospital during operations I think I would try to find a hospital that still uses old fashioned engineering to perform the op.

I know there is a lot of gold to be found in the digital domain.
Nevertheless I understand people who settle for silver that is a
save and trusted method.

Nothing serious has happened .
But I have discovered , I should not rely on my digital back too much , and also not forget good old film .
All images for my junkyard project were taken on film (E100VS) and were high end scanned with stunning quality results . Is that not reason enough , not to forget film ? ? ?
