SWC or 40mm??

Pre 500 series cameras like the 1600F, 1000F the SWA and the SW had a little pin at the RH top corner that was activated as the film was transported and the lens cocked. The pin came out of the back of the camera body.
It activated some parts in the film back. Some people say the film counter I have not been able to find that there is a link with the counter though.

For the sake of compatibility later film backs up till 1985! still have a little hole to allow use with over 25 year older cameras.
SWC cameras start in 1959 and do not have the protruding pin.
The same goes for 500 C cameras.
They were the first cameras not to have the pin.

With a few exceptions most parts of the Hasselblad system are forwards and backwards compatible.

A small drill and a lot of guts is all it takes....... :z04_motzer:

Hmmmmmmm..I am holding a CFV in my right hand and Nordin open to page 51 in my left hand...I think it would be no problem..There is a deep cut-out where the "winding interconnect" is and the pin is above and to the right...no sweat..

I am sure Jurgen has the proper size drill bit...I think he should do it. Doing so would avoid the very dangerous procedure of "swinging the back back".

OK, just ship me the CFV, I have a drill press and nice sharp TiN coated drills. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Easy guys,

Jürgen has lost enough sleep over his CFV. :z04_computer_haukap

Right now he is more concerned about a pair of lobsters. :z04_smileys70:

This may give rise to the idea that Jürgen is an unlucky person.
That is not correct. He has a fine collection of older cameras and lenses.

He is quite happy with the CFV back and his other Hasselblad gear not to mention his other cameras.
He got a brandnew Apple computer loaded with high grade GC and other hardware that makes processing
images with Phocus a piece of cake.
All in all not much to worry about.

My knowledge of Haute Cuisine is limited.
I think lobsters and mushrooms do not make a good combination.
Of course there is a first time for everything.

Lobster??? Haute Cuisine???

"In terms of status, the lobster has come a long way. Homarus americanus, or the Maine lobster, ascended from humble fare to fodder fit for royal banquets in a relatively short one hundred years, a true success story. Prior to the nineteenth century, only widows, orphans, and servants ate lobster. And in some parts of New England, serving lobster to prison inmates more than once a week was forbidden by law, as doing so was considered cruel and unusual punishment."

Not the 903SWC from KEH I hope? EX+ condition, $4,799? I had my eye on that one! :)

Gary

No, too rich for my bank account..the SWC, black lens, from KEH. KEH prices are higher than fleabay but I have had good luck with KEH. If you have looked at the fixed lens section, they have the viewfinder mounted backwards on the SWC, black lens. If your are looking at the 903, just go ahead and order it. The price won't go down and they don't last long on the listing.

Congratulations Steve! It looks like a really nice camera. I've spent way too much at KEH over the past year, but I've always been very happy with the quality of the gear from them. I'm afraid the 903 SWC is beyond my means at the moment also....so I'll just have to wait and hope for another one sometime in the future. Still need to get out and use the 120 CFE Makro that I bought from KEH a week ago. As is often the case for most of us I'm sure.....too much gear and not enough time to use it.

Look forward to seeing some of your photos with the SWC and hearing how you like it.

Gary

Well done Steve!!! Look forward to seeing some images made with your new "toy"! Hope I will be in the same position soon. Will take a look at a local 903 that is on sale at the moment.....
Have a nice Sunday.

I am watching the prices for HASSELBLAD SWA/SW/SWC and all the following models very carefully and found , the prices are rather stable or even going up .
As I mentioned in an earlier post , you even can use the CFV with an SWA/SW . I know very well , that it is not very handy to do so , because of the "swing back" , and also , this makes only sense , when working using a tripod . But it is possible .

Here an image of a new restaurants backside . Its called the HAPPY LOBSTER . Only about 6 kms from my place .

Taken with an 905SWC and CFV back .
For all of you , who still puzzle around what lobsters are , here in a HASSELBLAD forum , it is the KODAK EKTAR 135 mm lens for the 1600F/1000F cameras , I could aquire some time ago . It is a mint +++ lens , as it looks , one of the best available world wide .
From that time on , all EKTARs 135 mm lenses are called lobsters and they are classified according to their state , into class I , II , III and those , which you better don't look at .

Same here, haute cuisine is not my thing. Often characterised by "big plate, food microscopic".

I like neither lobsters nor mushrooms.

I'll trade either for a properly charcoal grilled steak. Or a nice burger :)

The picture at KEH is "funny" the viewfinder is on backwards. It will be awhile before I will get to use it. The GF and I are heading east to the Shenandoah valley/Blue Ridge mts., Va and then to MD/Chesapeake Bay for a couple of weeks. I will pick it up on my way to San Francisco in Oct....maybe will get some good SWC shots while driving back through AZ and MN.

If you like grilled steak, the next time you are in the Southwest, US..stop by the "Big Texan" in Amarillo, TX. They have a free steak dinner..all that you have to do is eat a two kilo steak and the rest of the meal in an hour. The last time that I was there, two guys from Poland were giving it a go.
