Help! I think I might need an SWC...

This is of course another aspect - whether or not one want's to be lugging a tripod around.

(I am not a professional, so I'm doing this to please myself - how big is my ego!)

The comments regarding the 'handling' noted earlier in this thread are very important, and perfectly valid, but the weight aspect is also important to me.

Many thanks for the continuing comments...

Hi, this is an interesting thread; I have both the SWCM with the 38mm Biogon, and a 501cm with a 40mm CFLE lens. Both are superb in use. The SWCM is lighter, and probably more convenient to carry, and is completely quiet- as quiet as a Leica M6 in use. There is absolutely no distortion with the SWCM; there is a little with the 40mm CFLE. Both are superb for landscapes, and architecture. The only real difference is in the weight. And of course, carrying a tripod; not always necessary with the SWCM, its a marvellous street camera. But really, you do need a tripod with the 501CM, preferably a heavy one !

Hmm? I hardly ever use a tripod with my 501CM and CF40FLE ;-)

She's here! I just cannot wait to go out with this magnificent machine and take some photographs. (More on this later)

Thank you to "he who made this possible" (You know who you are) - I'm going to have some fun with this camera!

Even I know who that was :z04_schlaumeier: Finally the various postal services did their thing like they should..

Yes ok, so I was getting a tiny bit stressed - that was in no way a reflection on the vendor - but I have less and less confidence in postal/shipping services...especially after hearing that CHRONOPOST have just 'lost' my 500C/M body

Anyway, at least the SWC/M is here and ready for action! (Wish I could say the same for me....)

Well I finally managed to get away from work and here are a couple of the resulting images that I took this afternoon. Sure, there's a way to go, but I'm very happy with this beauty, and when I've got my exposures worked out..........

By the way, can I have my SWC club membership now please??? :)

For somebody who is struggling with the right exposure due to recent new equipment the left image is pretty good, even excellent.
It shows the large dynamic range of the new Ektar film.

SWC membership is like membership from a secret organisation.
We all know it exists but you have nothing to show for it.
I had to go through a lot of trouble to find a company that makes invisible badges for a decent price.

I wish Zeiss and Hasselblad get back together again and make more SWCs. Shown: Makapu'u lookout, Oahu, Hawaii, ca. 5:15 p.m., 1/6/13. Hasselblad 903SWC (Zeiss 38mm f4.5 Biogon), handheld 1/30s, f/4.5, Ektar 100, Longs Drugs Mo'ili'ili develop, Nikon 9000ed scan.

Gorgeous image! I just found this forum and am delighted to be able to converse with other Hasselblad owners. My first SWC was a present from my wife (she literally saved her nickels), but it was stolen. Now, 33 years later I finally have another SWC and I love it--along with the memories of my loving wife. Every time I pick up the SWC I can remember the love my wife demonstrated. I have a Nikon 9000 scanner with VueScan, and any tips or recommendations on getting the best quality from my Ektar scans will be welcome.

I obtained my 40mm CL (floating front element) lens before getting my newest SWC, and decided to keep both. The older (and much larger) 40 is a beast but takes wonderful images. Do you use the Scan Science wet scanning fluids for your scans? I'm just getting started with my Nikon 9000 and Ektar, but my wife and I used to own and run a commercial lab in the San Francisco Bay Area so I love technical as well as artistic facets of the photography world.

The SWC is an astounding camera. So compact, so much fun to use. It's much more versatile than you might imagine. Makes a great travel camera. If you do go for one, I suggest a later model as the older ones have become difficult to repair with parts becoming scarce. I also believe that some early SWCs can have trouble with lens alignment and somehow manage to scratch the rear element.

This year I found a Super.Wide (1956)

Here some pictures made with the CFV-39 in Istanbul.

If you do not want to use a wire for synchronisation, you may set up that the speed is less than 1/4 (on your CFV digital back)
Last week-end I use the distagon 30mm with film. This last lens is realy hard to carry as I'm afraid to scratch the front lens...and loose the front cap
