H3D-39 Flash Recommendation?

kuau

New Member
I am in the market to purchase a flash for my H3D-39.
I am mostly going to be doing outdoor family portraits in the mountains.
I know of Metz, and Quantum,
Looking for some suggestions.
Thanks
Steven

It depends on where you are,

Europe I would go for Metz, USA take Quantum.

Be sure your flash is dedicated to the camera for TTl mode etc.

Vic.

I am in Europe where Quantum is less common.

Better look for a knowledgeable Hasselblad dealer who can advise what is best.
No doubt Paul Claesson of HUSA can help you out. Paul is a member here.

Look at the bottom of the home page and click his name to send him a pm.

Well. For years I used to works with "Hasselblad-V" flash and Metz (+ few regula-variant one). I've to say that ttl flash with digital is not as good as excepted (perhaps the filter made of glass involve amazing effect to the cell).
To me a modern flash should have manual mode (with partial power mode), auto mode and… auto slave included.
See here.

I found the old Nikon Sb-26 (no I have no Nikon body !) particularly good as it has a D-slave: it fire after the key flash has finished so it can be used to add light to the key flash cell for example.
For a Hasselblad H with flash included, the D-mode will allow you to light the back ground without modifying the front lighting
