First results from the new CFV 39

There are at least two other buyers anxiously waiting for their CFV39 backs that I know of.

Good to know yours arrived so quickly.
It means Hasselblad took good care of the problem you had.

Hi Paul, they sure did. There is much more that I need to know about the capabilities of this CFV.

Regarding the 800 iso of the CFV39, it is important that everyone knows that Phocus automatically removes noise, and I haven't found a way of turning it off, I don't think you can. Nikon D3 & D3x carry out thier own in-camera noise removal after a certain iso, which can be turned off or programmed to suit your needs. The noise removal of Pocus is very impressive when compared to Noise Ninja which is really good.

it would be great to get some .fff shots from any of you lucky owners for us to have a look ourselves on Phocus.....personally speaking, here in Gibraltar, we have absolutely no-one to look to for any of this.....the shots could be a snapshot of like outta your front door showing a harsh light/dark areas scene that tests the back....that would be great.....studio shots a la marketing department are useless.....

I am sure some of the lucky owners of the CFV39 will be willing to send large files to users
who are interested to see what is possible with the CFV39.

"Send this file" is software that makes transmission of large files possible.
Maybe Jürgen can explain the details.
He used this facility before to collect files for the 2009 calendar.

.....apart from myself, a colleague and good friend of mine is desperate to see .fff images from this back as it could be the answer (if as good as he hopes) to his prayers.....he has a massive V system he needs to get back into use......

......as Ive said elsewhere we cant get any shop or dealer to help us....if they have anything (namely for the H system we've been looking at) all we get is the marketing dept. images as i call them......

.....whoever helps us out we'll be so grateful...as i said, all we want is for a few shots like from the front door, from the window, indoors at home or the office.....

I can make files available for download without too much hassle. In the sense that I have a machine hooked up to the WWW on a 24x7 basis. The only downside is that it has a 1Mbit/s line speed. Which is a bit slow if multiple people are accessing things simulataneously.

In any case, people who want to share some of their files can contact me with a PM so that we can arrange details.

Dear Sperera,

I will send you what you are requesting as soon as I have a good image, hopefully tomorrow.

Brad, the following image was taken with 205TCC, 40IF at 5.6, iso 50 and the CFV16 in Malaysia. The exposure was for several seconds. Most important, the photo was under-exposed, so I had to increase exposure by 1.56 stops in flexcolor.

No tripod, I rested the camera on the ledge of the pond and put the lens cover under the front of the lens. Mirror up and self-timer of course.

There is not a hint of vibration. So now you need a 205 to go with your CFV39.

That is moire alright, doesn't show that much in daylight, but it is a price we have to pay for not having the AA filter.

Can this CFV39 be attached vertically for portrait shooting? A dealer told me that it can, but can anyone confirm this? Or post a back's image showing the CCD side?

It cannot be attached sideways--I and others have verified this with Hasselblad.

Thank you for the samples! I love seeing them, since I cannot make any myself just yet.

I assumed you were using the central shutter and not the focal plane for your shot?

And fortunately, my 203FE just came back from Hasselblad, modified and ready for digital. I look forward to joining you soon! I wouldn't want you to be lonely!

Yongfey, welcome at this forum!

Bradley is right the CFV nor any other DB from Hasselblad can not be turned from landscape to portrait mode.

To use the camera in portrait mode the body needs to be tilted 90°.
That makes the use of a 90° prism or 45° prism necessary.
For some user this is not convenient, others have no problem operating the camera in tilted position.

I does seem strange, perhaps the "fat" pixel 16 MP sensors are no longer available. In a brief look at the "web" there aren't that many CFV IIs for sale.

I think they just stopped the CFV/16 and used all the hardware componets in the pipe-line for the 39 meg version.

In my experience, Hasselblad rarely over-produces. They are very tight lipped about new developments unless it serves the purpose of keeping people from buying something else ... like pre-announcing their 60 meg back. I would speculate that Hassey has been slow to market with the 60 meg sensor because Phase One had a one year exclusive on it ... which has happened before with Sinar and Dalsa and the first 33 meg sensor.

There is a bit of a backlog for the CFV/39 because I think they under-estimated the immediate pent up demand for such a back. Apparently, this thing is selling like hot cakes ... which bodes well for further CFVs and legacy V owners ... maybe eventually a 60 meg one (just speculation). If this generates income flow, perhaps it'll help keep Hassey healthy in a down economy ... an economy where the H3D-II/60 is a super serious financial commitment for just about anyone, even if they have lots of work.

BTW, I'm selling my CFV-II 16 meg back to help fund the CFV/39. I was going to keep it, but money is to tight to have two. It's as close to being new as you can get without coming straight from the factory. USA only please.

As the operating buttons are all the same , I expect a very similar easy handling as with the CFV-16 .
