First hand experience from the lucky owners of the new CFV 39 digital back.

This thread is reserved for them untill of course their reports invite reactions from mere mortals without the latest in digital development from Hasselblad.

Please give these guys some room to report their findings.

CFV-39 delivered

My CFV-39 back was ordered some 2 weeks ago and is delivered by Calumetphoto in the Netherlands today. Much faster than expected ... will keep you posted on the results. First work through the manual. Just remember, you have to order the battery separately from Sony (limited supply it looks !)

Good to know the first CFV39 has been delivered to a forum user.

I know there are at least two others waiting anxiously for their CFV39 DB's.

Are you serious?

Oh yes, I nearly forgot, I had to push my new car to a petrol station to get some fuel because the garage sold it empty...

How sad.

When I was a lot younger and much more handsome I bought a new sportscar from a well known German manufacturer.
I was quite surprised the dealer charged me 12 litres of engine oil and quite a few other things I never had to pay for with other new cars.

It takes a little time but in the end you get used to smart guys trying to make a few euro, pounds, dollars extra.

Small hotels offer you accomodation and a breakfast, included in the price of the room, that will last you the largest part of the day.

Book a room in a luxury hotel at a frightening rate, with those prices I tend not to sleep at all, and you will get breakfast at only 24 euro.

I hadn't realized, with the introduction of the CFV39, that the "square" CFV II is now discontinued. It would seem to me that there is still a market for the 16 MP back if they dropped the price to $8,999 or $7,500.

The first impression is very important for marketing, if you expect to sell something else in a near futur.

Apparently the first impression with a 39Mpix is "Impossible to try the first day: Where is the battery ?"

The batteries for the CFV-39 are the same as for the CFII-39 and also for the CFV/CFVII .
No trouble here .
I am in the lucky situation to have a battery specialized shop here in my little town .
Batteries and chargers . There is almost nothing he can not organize .

Yes Jürgen you're 'lucky' - but my original question still stands - Do Hasselblad really sell/ship this back without a battery? It's like selling a car without the wheels - nonsense.

I'm finally beginning to realise why I will never own one of these backs - I would have thought for an item in excess of 9000€ before tax, that a battery would be included.

Please tell me I'm wrong.

Ian

You are wrong .
Might be , that the CFV-39 is sold with a battery and charger in some countries .
But it is as with most electric/electronic gear you buy today , batteries are not included . I dont like this either .
When I bought my last BMW , I had just 10 liters of petrol in the tank .
Other dealers might present you the car with a full tank . ? ? ?

I have done an extensive step into digital photography because I am unable to spend so much time in my darkroom . And I loved my 4x5 inch equipped darkroom .
But serious back problems , I suffer from since many years and which have become much worse , forced me to give it up .

Compared to the total price of a DB , the batteries and charger are nothing .
Still , I must admit , it is not nice to sell it "incomplete" .
But for me , that is no reason not to buy that CFV-39 back .

I didn't realize that either.....too bad really. I think Hasselblad could have sold quite a few of them if they'd priced them agressively ($5-6k).

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree - I cannot think of one instance when I have purchased a digital camera or accessory without it's battery.

I fully understand your reasoning, but selling anything 'incomplete' is ridiculous, particularly at these prices.

Selling a lens without a lens hood is 'penny pinching', but doesn't prevent you using the lens. Selling an electrically powered item without the necessary powerpack is mindless.

End of rant :)

Ian

Dont worry , be happy and face the facts . Life is much easier then .
And believe me , I have become the father of patience and undestanding in the last few years and I just feel good .
It is a kind of "you can kiss my back" policy .
If I worry and get annoyed and still can't change anything , so I don't worry .
But when I then come to a point , where I say NO , then it is definately NO .

Gary

I realized that only yesterday as well and was surprised .
But I have no idea of why HASSELBLAD decided to do so .
Perhaps someone has an idea ? ? ?

Jürgen

Ok, so no battery--does it come with a charger for the battery (that it doesn't come with)?

Jat--can you provide us with the model number of the compatible Sony battery?

Best regards,
-Brad

I does seem strange, perhaps the "fat" pixel 16 MP sensors are no longer available. In a brief look at the "web" there aren't that many CFV IIs for sale.

The analog battery is : SONY NP-F530 , F550 , F570 .
There are surely different OEM brands available .

Please have a look to the CFV-39 datasheet in the HASSELBLAD website , and you will discover , that the CFV-39 is sold without battery and charger .
Worldwide .
Might be , that your dealer will hand these items free to you , when you buy ten CFV-39 backs .:z04_kaputtlachen: Don't trust these guys . They seldom give something for nothing .
