CFV BACK SECOND TRY

Carl, at Hasselblad's request, I have just recently sent off an ex&le image shot with the CFV back on a Hasselblad 503CW for inclusion in marketing materials for Hasselblad UK. I have no idea when these materials will be availble for consumer review. Soon I hope.

As to future backs dedicated to the V series cameras (CFV), I cannot speculate. I would hope for an even larger sensor, but I certainly wouldn't hold my breath waiting.

> [Thanks Marc, much appreciated, am in touch with the UK branch, > they will be returning call on their return from an exhibition. all the best]

My failing CFV BACK has ben replaced by HASSELBLAD GERMANY and everything seems to work as designed .
I have performed the upgrade to firmware level 196 in FLEXCOLOR and will do further tests with 503CW and 905SWC by tomorrow .
That has taken a load off my mind

Hi Jugen,
At last! I'm really pleased that they've finally got it sorted for you, will they compensate for time lost?
Enjoy it!

Gérard

Thanks Gerard

Thanks for your posting .
I am dreaming of "les Chateau de la Loire" . I have been there twice , but never really took any images . What a pitty . I have been to "Les grand Causses" and took fanatstic images .
And l'Alsace . I think i should return there . With my my new CFV BACK.

hi there, just ordered a CFV, other photographers I have spoken too have expressed
amazement at the quality of the images. Thanks to all those that helped in allowing considered judgment of purchase. best wishes, Carl

Colin

I love your strine comments . As i have been living in Scotland for about a year , i find some words very familiar , but have to use a Strine Dictionary to understand everything .
The most beloved strine word to me is : Sheila .
Between pooring rain on friday morning and snowfall today i was lucky to have a little bit of sunshine .

So here are three testshots . The first for color testing .

This one has a yellow cast . That seems to be a little problem with the CFV BACK and has to be sorted out . I have seen quite a few images , taken with CFV showing a yellow cast .
It is very difficult to get rid of that using color balancing tools in PSCS

There is a very long hall of a recycling company showing a wonderful graffiti of about 30m length . That is my favorite projekt . I want to produce a banner , using stiching , to capture that graffiti .
But there are 3 major limitations to that .
You can only take these images betwenn 10:00 and 12:00 in the morning .
The recyling company should remove their "bloody" containers , which park in front of that wall .
And you can only take the images on saturday or sunday , due to truck traffic in front of the hall .
And then you also want to have some sunshine , decent sunshine .

Now , as i have a working back , i am very pleased with it . It will shurely change my workflow .

Regards Jurgen

G'Day Jürgen:

Crikey, Mate, I think that CFV is doin' OK.

I'm sure you will take a little while to get all the peculiarities worked out - if indeed there are any constant colour casts etc. But great start!! I like #3 with the Shark fighting the mouth of the trash hauler.

I don't have MF digital, but I have smaller format Leica DLux etc (which I now use on Manual Settings instead of my Hassy Pola back) and I generally find that they all need about +5% sharpening and just a little colour compensation, if I actually put those images on screen for viewing or printing. I'm sure Marc or another MF Digitaler will know.

Anyway, she'll be right, Mate. Stone the bloody crows, I wish I had a CFV (for my Holga).

Cheers,

Colin

Jürgen:

Well, now you are getting a chance to enjoy your CFV. Good for you!

Colin:

I wish I had a CFV (for my Holga).>

Best laugh I've had today.

Thanks:

Gilbert

Yes Gilbert

I think i will like my CFV . The image quality is very good . I still will have to learn , that exposure is slightly different to film and to use the histogram .

# I wish i had a CFV (for my Holga) #
That's Colin , an aussie bloke , always a joke in his mind .

I like that .
I first understood Holga would be a Sheila , but now as you report , that this was the best laugh of your day , I think , a CFV on a Holga is like a lensbaby on a H3D39 .

Hi Jurgan, I have just received a CFV and have started testing it, if there are any problems may be we could keep in touch on this, or if you need any help with the software. We use Photoshop and the Flexware, the pictures are pretty sharp but they will appear sharper on print. The only problem encountered is the flash sync cord pulling off the sync cover on the 50mm lens should this ever be done, never happened before but it damage the cover and it costs £36 or $75 to replace.

cheers, Carl

Hi Carl

Yes i would be pleased to share experience with the CFV BACK and will keep in touch with this . I am surprised , how fast the delivery of your back was . My replacement back was the only back HASSELBLAD Germany had . They got it from Sweden and just passed it on to me .
I believe , that the selling figures must be very high . Good for HASSELBLAD .

Regarding the trouble with the sync cover on your DISTAGON 50mm , i can only recommend NOT to use super glue . Super glue of any brand will not glue all material together . This is true especially for some plastic material . So don't make things worse .
I agree , the repair is rather expensive , but in comparison to the cost of the lens , its peanuts .
Have a good start with your BACK .

As the weather will be fine during the coming week , i will do some shots of little waterfalls , just to see how exposures > 1/8 will work .

Jurgen
