A sad moment in Zeiss history

Jurgen, what a sensational head! Wow that must have kept a few engineers busy for a long time!!

I see you too are using a Hasselblad H series quick release plate. When I saw one in my favourite used gear store, I swapped my conventional V series QR for the H series version - I liked the way the spirit levels sat out proud of the mount. It works a treat with both the V series bodies and XPan.

PS - Love the Holga!

Marc

It is just called H-SYSTEM QR , and it says so on the little box , which comes with the QR .
In fact it is partnumber 3043326 , the QR with 2 spirit levels .
In the last V-SYSTEM printed catalogue it reads : designed to fit all current V,H and X system cameras .

Marc, you made me smile when you said: "What is the "H" series quick release plate?"

I am worried that you might have made Jurgen fall off his seat...... are you OK Jurgen ........ or still recovering from shock??!!

Now Marc, don't tell me you have not discovered the H series QR yet??

Are you sure it is not hiding in a bag somewhere???

It really is neat for both the V and X series and I would imagine it's perfect for the H series. Smooth to use and has an excellent metal "pop-up" locking /safety pin that comes into action when the camera is slid onto the QR (like one of the earlier V series QR devices but they had a plastic pop-up device). It uses the same closing mechanism.

Actually, last year I converted all my kits to the Hasselblad QR system - since 2 of my 4 kits already have it (V series and XPan). I got an XPan foot (quite long with a very small pin that fits to a very small hole on the base of the XPan to prevent swivelling) to fit to my Linhof 4x5 (and had a tiny hole drilled into its base). So I have one simple and effective QR system and I thought if the Hasselblad one can support a camera, back and say the 350mm lens, then it will do all my kits fine.

Then I go a foot (without the pin) to fit to my Leica M7.

So, I was interested to see that Jurgen uses the same H series QR while he is a V series user.

Uh, can someone provide a link to the QR for H cameras? Does it have anti twist built in?

Jurgen, did you have to re-machine that head so it'll provide full movements? I read a thread about having to do that.

Marc

I do not know , if I understand you correctly , but let me try to answer .
The coupling is called TRIPOD QUICK COUPLING H .
Have a look here : http://www.hasselblad.com/products/h-system/accessories.aspx
HASSELBLAD partnumber is 3043326 .
I have a V-SYSTEM catalog (english) in pdf here . It is absolutely the same coupling device there , described in a bit more detail , than in the above link .
If you want me to send you that catalogue , let me know . It is 12,6 MB of size .

Attaching the coupling to the ARCA-SWISS CUBE requires an ARCA-SWISS to HASSELBLAD adapter plate .
There is no rework done to the cube nor to the adapter plate . But I did a rework to the 3043326 coupling , to make it sit safer on the adapter plate .

So the cube has a quick coupling to take the ARCA-SWISS profile . The adapter plate has the same profile . And then , the modified HASSELBLAD coupling sits on that adapter plate .You can see that very well on my HOLGA image , posted earlier .

Yes Marc, the camera and its built-in foot simply slide into the H version QR.

God only knows why they call it an H version since the built-in foot in Hasselblads is the same (maybe there is something about the H series bodies that make the original V series QRs incompatible - forward compatibility, V to H, versus backward compatibility, H to V).
