By the way, in the US, $130 euros is about $150 and tariffs. The RSS bracket is $115 for just the base and $255 for the L brackets. So, for any in the US, the net prices are closer.

It used to be the Euro and the USD were closer and there were very, very small tariffs on cameras, none on lenses and accessories. I look forward to getting back there one day. There are some great used equipment places in Europe that I cannot justify now because of net cost. That hurts us all!

Question, Reimund, have you tested them with the 135 to see how tight they are in the vertical mode? I know paying more for the RSS seems counter-intuitive. I have RSS brackets for my Leica S, SL and my M film cameras in addition to the X2D. The Leica S bracket is a one piece L but is very different from these. I’ve also had the S and SL brackets for almost a decade with no issues ever, which was one of the deciding factors for me to spend the extra here.

One thing I still love about the X2D RSS bracket is having the Allen wrench in the bracket. Out in the field I occasionally have to tighten it to the base, and that is really important and does make the base a little thicker. I also like the extra pin on the bottom that fits into the camera base to keep it flush (I think another one you showed has that pin also). To be clear, I use only the base, not the L. Since I shoot in square format, it doesn’t matter the orientation. I also don’t really worry about setting the camera down with the lens attached because the lens I use most is the 35-70 and it is so big none of the bases, including the camera, keep it from tilting forward.

i don‘t own a 35-100mm. So the longest i test with has been the 90mm V.
All of the tested bracket come with an allen wrench and also here both china brackets hold them using a magnet. Thats also a much better solution compared to this 2 plastic clips RRS comeds with.
So much i‘ve hoped for the same good quality i‘m used to with RRS gear i was disappointed with this bracket. But no big deal. I‘m fine with the Peipro and its slim design in particular.
