Which step up adapter for lens?

Hi all,

Just picked up my first Hasselblad - a 500c/m. and its all a bit new to me.

I've done a bit of a search on this topic, but still a little unclear on which type of Step Up Adapter I should be getting for my lens. Its a black 80mm CF lens which looks like it is from 1984. Their is 'G48' stamped on the inside of the lens, and the rest of the body/back have serial numbers from 84 as well.

So basically my questions is which of these should I be getting?:

- B50 to 52mm Step Up Ring Adapter
- B60-72mm
- B60 to 62mm

Or does it not matter, since any will work? Thanks.

I suppose you are planning to use threaded filters?

Only option three will do.
72 mm may be too small because of vignetting.
Could be 77 mm is a beter option.

B 60 is actually about 67 mm which means options 1 and 2 are simply too small.

Why not use Hasselblad filters?
They are generally in good supply.

Vic,

You may be quite correct, but with my 80mm fitted with a B60 to 67mm adapter with a filter mounted I haven't noticed any perceptible vignetting. I may have to look more closely though. It may be different with my 50mm lens that I haven't tried using it on yet.
One of the reasons I had gone with the B60/67mm was the fact I had a bunch of 67mm filters from an older camera system and it seemed convenient to use what I had. The 72mm and 77mm adapters aren't as plentiful on ebay as the 67mm's.

cool. Yes, i want to get some filters and a lens hood.

So, just to clarify, the b50 is ruled out because the thread just wont work on my lens?

Mark,

I was thinking of WA lenses and older filters with a wider rim than current slim line filters.
In case more than 1 filter is being used even B60 is not wide enough for the 50 mm WA.
That is why the 50 CFi was changed from B60 to B70 bayonet.

Larger size filters are less easy to find and more expensive.

B50 is out, it wont even fit physically.

Why not stick with Hasselblad filters and hoods?
They are excellent and proven quality.

Better avoid cheap Chinese copies of lens hoods.
You can find a decent used original hood for the same money or less.
