Use center filter

I've so far shot one roll of 35mm film with my new XPan11 and 45mm lens using Velvia. In the panoramic mode light falloff was quite evident. The free rebate on the center filter was part of my purchase and I await this filter from Hasselblad. Other than losing light and slowing the lens down, is there any advantage to using the center filter when not in the panoramic mode?
