Ultimate tripod?

Hi folks,

For those of you with excess money to burn: go and check the Gitzo Titanium tripod on Gitzo's website.

I'll spare you the price, but I, for one, really like the design.

So, if you already have the TPP and all the SA lenses etc this is the tripod to complement them.

I am very satisfied with my GITZO G1349 and the smaller one G1228 .
They are not gold plated , but of black carbon .
BTW , I find the GITZO homepage very confusing and could not find the
platinum , goldplated version of my G1349 .

Yeah... goldplated.. Nicely matches one of the goldplated 500-series bodies with darkblue leatherette.

I use a rather simple Slik tripod with a Manfrotto ballhead. Works fine for me, and is small/light enough to take on a plane (in the checked luggage of course).

Jürgen,

Are you out of your mind giving away gold plated Hasselblad cameras as welcome presents?
Please put me on the list for another 503 CX in gold and blue.
If there are no 503CX cameras left I will settle for a goldplated 503 CW in red, no problem.

I knew this kind of words would come up .
But , if you read my comment properly , I was talking about a LITTLE welcome present .
I did not say , its gold plated .
So Wilko will have to come back to the ground and not dream of gold plated HASSELBLADs .
The little welcome present is so "little" , that you can hide it in your ear , which of course I would not recommend .

Now , as Wilko has given me his address , I will post this little surprise on Monday . I still have a fantastic big shoebox available .

So I can get easily rid of all the packing material , and must not bring it to the recycling station .

How you can use a 503CX in gold/blue finish as an accessoiry to a 1000F?

I have a hunch what Jürgen has in mind as a welcome present for you but I will not disclose what it is.

That does not take away my dissapointment as I was counting on a nice gold plated 503CW camera.
This matter will be high on the agenda for the next AGM of the FUC.
There will be new rules that forbid misleading innocent members by raising false hope for a nice free gold plated camera.

It looks beautifully made, that's for sure. I'm not sure I like the Traveller design, but I'm somewhat of a traditionalist when it comes to tripods. I guess the Traveller and Explorer series are great for very specific purposes.

A little Christmas present to myself was an aluminum Gitzo 1340 and a Gitzo 2270 pan tilt head. Just what my wife says I needed....another tripod.

It is only half the price of a decent Carl Zeiss lens
