Normally, I'm not a big fan of black and white when it comes to nature and landscape photography—but in this case, the original color image was just a chaotic mess of green. So I gave it a try in black and white - and I actually kind of like it

Very nice! Sometimes color just doesn't work. Filters can be used to enhance some values or change the tones. Also IR film can be another tool.
