Time Exposure Lock

Hi, pesky me again with more questions!

Looking through an online manual for the 503CX I notice that it states a cable release is not possible with the time exposure lock. Bearing in mind that this lock needs to be set at the T position for exposures longer than 1 second (bulb), does this mean I cant use a cable release for any exposure longer than a second??? Seems a bit odd. I was hoping to do some night/lowlight work.

You can use a cable release on the 503CX camera.
I have not got a CX manual to look up the section about this.

Vic.

I am not familiar with the CX but on my SWC, which also has a T lock, you cannot use a cable release + T lock. I had my shutter jam this way!!

The T lock should be used when you do long exposures without a cable release. If you want to do a cable release with bulb setting, you have to get a cable which has it's own lock and have the camera in the regular B setting.

This is the case when I use my SWC anyway. Hope that helps.

It might also be helpful to mention that the T lock is not necessary to use with times slower than 1 second. It just locks the shutter until you flip the switch back, so you don't have to press down on the shutter button the entire time.

It also stops the back blinds /film protector from flipping back into their normal position and hence not allowing the film to be properly exposed for long exposures -which wouldn't be the case on the SWC as they haven't got any.
