Ok...my opinion only....call it a wish then????

If Hasselblad released a new 31 mp Hasselblad.....lets call this the K range (the k stands for Canon and Nikon Killer)...that can shoot square as well....in the following options:

Hasselblad K body: £4,200
Hasselblad K 'Portrait kit' incl. 80mm lens: £5,000
Hasselblad K 'Pro kit' incl. 80mm lens + 50mm lens: £6,000

....I think they would outsell Nikon and Canon combined and completely conquer the pro/advanced amateur market....

...so why not do it???? what am i missing here???? heh heh heh

....I mean they have the chips, they have the bodies, the lenses.....etc so why not just do something like this to actually get Hasselblad into other levels of professional use such as the thousands and thousands of wedding shooters all over the world.....not to mention the fashion/portrait sector who dont get top gig magazine jobs but still rock shoots.....

but yes i know im deluded....

Oh, sure, you have a point, but don't expect HB can really compete with the likes of Canon & Nikon. They are several orders of magnitude bigger and loaded with $$. They will not allow anyone, let alone HB, to run with their cheese. I am also not sure if a lot of folks would be lured away from their FF Nikons and Canons for price alone. They know their C and N kit inside out, and very likely will never have used a MF(D) camera.

HB's energy would probably better spent in ensuring Leica is not going anywhere with their S2. That would ensure HB would basically own the high-end MFD market. And Mamiya the low-end MFD market. Something like that..

I believe must 'rich amateur' photographers that buy 5dmk2 and even 1ds series, don't even know hasselblad exists... to make my point, some people just look at their friends or relatives 'amazing new camera', even a canon powershot, and then go and buy the most expensive canon in the store, with the promise of 'the best image quality out there': £5000 better than their son's or cousin's
