The "best" prism for CWD?

Paul, maybe you know the answer to this -

When the lens is stored on the camera with the shutter fired, what is the position of the aperture blades? Stopped down, or wide open? It's impossible for a layman to tell since once the shutter is fired, the blades are hidden from view front & back.
I tend to think that they remain stopped down until you recock the shutter, but don't know for sure. And if so, with the shutter already fired, could you stop the lens down farther by simply turning the aperture ring?

Michael,

Fitted to the camera my guess is the aperture closes and stays closed with a lens in fired position.
It will also move from F11 to say F22 if the aperture control is moved from 11 to 22.

You could check what happens by using a 2000 series body and selecting mirror up from the mirror program.
That allows the camera to betriggered and look from the magazine side to the lens.

Trigger a camera or fire a lens does not go well with my rule number one:
Always keep lenses and cameras cocked.
I would rather actuate the DOF lever and leave lens and or camera cocked.

I just checked a C and a CF lens.
In the fired position the aperture goes to the pre set value.
No reason to believe that will change if the lens is fitted to the camera.
