Test 50 mm F lens against 50 mm Canon

Steve,

I have a condition called insomnia photografica.
Nothing serious. My doctor says I can live to be a hundred years old.
Thanks for your concern!

I was curious about the "pronged" interconnect on the lens. That was used to couple the lens to the Nikon Photomic meter; which was discontinued in 1974(?). Maybe there is another use for it, if not, I find it rather odd on a new lens.

Hooray.....it will work on my pair of Nikon F2s! Time to dig them out from the back of the closet.....if I can find them back there.

Seriously, I'm glad to see they are keeping these lenses backwards compatible to the original Nikon F series cameras. I don't use them much anymore....but I'm sure there must be some diehards out there who still are.....just like those who enjoy using the early Hasselbalds. :)

Not only the F cameras also the EL (I), the Nikkormat to name just two that come to mind.
Nikon users had to wait long before they could make use of some decent lenses made by CZ..... :)

Those cameras must be very rare. Never heard of them before.
Wetzlar?

I cannot tell if this was tongue-in-cheek. In case it was not, Wetzlar is where Leica was before they moved to Solms, and it is where they are moving back to at the moment. The Leica M2 is a cheaper version of the M3 with a lower magnification viewfinder and a 35mm frameline. A very nice 35mm camera.

Even Praktica had CZ lenses before Nikon. OK, CZJ but still CZ genes

I still have my Praktica Nova that was used to take baby pictures of me by my father. It was restored this year and complemented with the Carl Zeiss Flektogon-, Tessar-, Pancolar- and Sonnar-lenses of that time.
