SWC 1956 alert!!

Steve

The first SW is an abslolute BEAUTY and not only a collectors item .
But I would like to see such wonderful items more in the glass cabinet than as working horses .

The second seems to be in good thechnical state with some signs of use . But that is normal for a camera of that age .

I can not recommend anything here , but what I would like to say is , that prices for good SWA/SW/SWC/SWCM have gone up a lot .
That on the other hand means , if you want to go for one of these , you should carefully check , before you buy .

But there is one thing valid for all of them , they are able to take the newest digital backs . That is a wonderful compatibility . Isn't it ? ? ?
Name me one other camera system , who can do that .

And here , just to proof . It works , believe it or not .

I cannot disagree with you more. Cameras need to be used so that the mechanics do not get frozen. I have a 1935 Certo Dolly Super Sport with a Zeiss lens that I use occasionally to shoot a roll of film. While the performance cannot be compared to these two camera, it does still take great photographs.

Please take a look at J.B. Nethercutt and his automobile collection at http://nethercuttcollection.org/. All his cars have been restored to factory condition and every year he takes his employees at Merle Norman Cosmetics on a picnic in these museam cars. He has his specially trained drivers and mechanics drive the emplyees in these cars. Every car in his collection can be driven off the museam floor and on the streets.

I am not suggesting that you just let anyone use your cameras, but that you take each camera out for some fresh air and sunshine and let it do what it would be happiest doing => taking photographs once, twice, or several times a year.

Stever,

From a source well known to Jotloob I can assure you all his cameras are used from time to time.
His 1957 SW had the pleasure to have its images captured by a CFV digital back.
On a recent trip to Italy a near mint one owner 1600F was used with the latest Ektar film and
both Ektar lenses, the 80 mm and the 135 mm.
Jotloobs 1000F is now with me because the 1/500 shutterspeed is not spot on while all the others
including the 1/1000 are.

What Jürgen meant to say is these beautiful cameras are now into semi retirement.
They enjoy their old age and do not need to earn their money anymore.

Like you I agree there is nothing better for a camera than to be used from time to time.
Like Jürgen I take my older cameras on occasional trips to use them.
After all that is what cameras are for to take pictures with.
