Stiff focusing ring

I have a 500cm with a 2.8 80mm c T lens which has a stiff focusing ring... I have added a quick focusing lever which helps some, but it is just to sticky for my taste, I have tried other lens of the same make and model and they are much easier to focus. Can this be fixed? Can it be lubricated or am I stuck with it like it is?
