So my 80mm Ziess lens shutter broke

My shutter was stuck shut, so I made sure everything was good to go and cranked and all that, but after a couple of shots I noticed a little metal fragment with holes drilled in it, floating around in the lens. Is this from not having used equipment lubricated before using?
