Series 8 filter on C 50mm

I just received 2 series 8 filters to go onto
my C 4/50 lens.

They nicely fit in the shade, I am just wondering if there is a 'prefered way' of inserting them.

What I mean is this: the filters themselves have a threaded side which has a retaining ring to hold the glass in place. Does one put that side towards the lens' front element, or the other way around?

It really doesn't matter which way around.

That is what I assumed, there is probably an approx 2mm difference in the frontelement - filter distance but that is all.

It was just one of these things that made me curious.

what does a series 8 polarisation filter look like?
Does it have a special mount to allow rotating it?
