Hi, all - my proshade 6093T came with a mask for use with a 250 lens. Recently, I came upon a similar mask, for a 120-150 lens. Does anyone know if this second mask was actually supplied for or intended to be use with the 6093T?
Cheers,
Mike
I just received the 2 older masks in the mail this afternoon and the first thing I did was to compare the "old" 250 mask with the new one I just purchased from Hasselblad USA. Surprisingly, the cutouts were different sizes. If in fact the cutout size is a function of the lens focal length and the amount of extension of the proshade, I would expect the cutout sizes to be identical. The newer model has pronounced radiusing of the corners and an extra 1/4 inch width and height in the opening, as well as a tab to make grabbing the mask easier. I'll take some test shots to see if I get any vignetting with the older mask.
All masks (old and new) say "CF and C" in the engraving.
Good point.
This would mean the distance indicated for various focal lengths between pro shades must differ as well.
I will look into that matter later today.
Extension of the later 6093 (T) Proshade is less than that for the older 40231 and 40676 Pro Shades.
That would mean a smaller opening is needed for the mask used with the later 6093 PS.
The earlier models have the same extension for a given lens.
Next will be a search in my collection of masks to see if I can find different size openings.
Most masks I have came with older Pro Shades.
No idea whether this different mask has got a new partnumber as well.
That means even more home work!
I found a selection of masks that makes the choice even more difficult:
Old 250 mask for pre 6093 PS later labelelled C & CF 250
Suitable for the 40231 and 40676 PS
Old 120-135-150 mask, later labelled F250 and CF&C 120-150
Suitable for 40231 PS (not F250) and CF&C 120-150 + F 250 (40676 only)
Left old 250 mask.
Right F250 with CF&C 120-150 and CF&C500
This one seems different from the 40312 mask.
Due to the larger opening needed for C500 and CF500 lenses this mask is meant for the 6093 (T) Pro Shades.
It seems to have a larger opening than the 40312 mask though.
Apparently the 40312 is not in my collection.
Based on all the discussion and pictures, I'm tempted to think that the 6093T is only meant to be used with the 250 mask since the two were offered together at the same time in the catalogue, but no others.
Cheers,
Mike
Jurgen and Paul, I will check the model of Pro-Shade I have (pre-current model) and which specific masks I have. But it has always struck me that I seem to be missing the 180mm. I think the gap seems to be that I have an 80mm, 120-150mm and 250mm. The wider angle lenses are protected by the bellows alone I think. But I will check.
There is no mask for the 180 mm.
I suppose you have the older folding PS which is HB part 40676.
Options are using the 150 mask and extend the Pro Shade a little further or use the 250 mask with less extension on the Pro Shade.
One of those solutions should bring the right amount of protection against unwanted back light reaching the lens.
