I do hope I am not treading on toes with this.

I have been handed a Hasselblad 500 EL/M and asked to sell it.

I am trying to establish a reasonable price. Spent a good part of the last two days bipping about the web looking and learning.

Here's what I have.

Camera Body 500 EL/M RS1317342.
Film Magazines:
12, RI 3252552.
70, RS 361721. (may require new light seal)
70, RV 362146 (requires new light seal on sliding shutter, for sure).
Waist level Pop-up eyepiece.
90 Degree adjustable focus eyepiece (model unknown, but Hasselblad).

Lenses
Planar 1:2,8 F=80mm T*. Carl Zeiss Nr5706687
Distagon 1:4 F=40mmT* Carl Zeiss Nr6390287 with leather case.

Filter Yellow marked Hasselblad /50 1,5x Y -0,5 .

Pistol Grip trigger unit.

Remote button for front port (aprox 12" long cable).

Square 80mm shade.

2 batteries, Ni cad. Showed over 6 volts each after an over night charge.
Wall wart charger 110v, 5 pin DIN plug.
1/4 inch Tripod adapter.
Assorted lens covers and body covers to suit the lens and camera body if they are to be separated.
Minolta Auto Meter III (battery dead, serviceability unknown as yet)

Hasselblad Hard carry case that fits all but the lens in the leather case.
Assorted manuals(just user guides)

So. The story.

My brother-in-law spends a bit of time going to auctions. Picked this up along with some stuff that he wanted in a lot. He has asked me to put time into selling it, that he cannot, and offered me a reasonable commission for so doing. Besides that, I like him :) , so chasing down info and the like, is not too tough.

I looked over the film magazines, and the one 70 magazine had a very sticky goo on the steel shutter. A few minutes and the cover plate was off, to find that the light seal (not sure of proper terminology here) had been munged up, and the seal was toast. A quick clean with an alcohol dampened rag cleaned off that, and it sits, reassembled, but needing a new seal. The other one, I just looked at, and it shows some residue from adhesive on the shutter, and I see a little light through the gap, so expect that it too is gone.
The 12 magazine, appears to be OK.

The Camera body seems in pretty decent shape, having suffered an indelicate hand on the lens mount at some point, showing a mark where the lens was attempted to be fitted in the wrong orientation.
I have had it on charge overnight. Not sure what I can do to test it for function.

Exact history is not known, and I would assume that the requirement for a service would come in to the equation.

In any case, what would be a reasonable price for the package?

My location is in Cold Lake Alberta, in Canada, FWIW.

I'm not so into the photography that I know what I need to, but am a reasonably competent mechanic, done some watch repair, and work as a machinist.
I've seen a fair bit online about having to recock the lenses, at least one article that mentioned that the motor drive system may get out of sync, and a couple mentions of tech manuals that lead to naught as far as reference material went.

I'd appreciate any input. I'll try to get some photos into a photobucket account tonight.

Cheers

Edit to add: Well, somebody likes me!:) The camera cycles through all it's motions, as far as I can tell, and seems to be running reasonably freely. The motor does not sound too laboured, in any case.

It is difficult to tell as much of the value depends on the condition and the service history of the gear.
70 Backs are not much in demand it is difficult or impossible to find film for those.
The 12 back and the 500 ELM are worth 100-250 USD.

The lenses I can not tell as your description is not sufficient.
There are 7 different 80 mm Planar lenses if I remember correctly.
They start in 1956 and are still in production.

I guess the Distagon is the 40 mm one, or maybe the 50 mm.
There is no 80 mm Distagon for Hasselblad.
Lens numbers will tell how old a lens is and from what series.

The Distagon lens has the markings of Nr6390287 after the Carl Zeiss name. It appears new or very near new condition. It is a 40mm. Sorry for that. Found a date code of F18, so if the site I found it on is correct, June, of 1981.
The Planar lens is marked Nr5706687. I can see signs of use, but not any visible marks on the lens. Date code is 1804, for April of 1975.

That any help?

Thanks for the info and assistance!
