Phocus on Mac... doesn't work

Hey again,

I installed that Phocus 1.0 of Mac version on my MBP but it doesn't open, what is the problem?

I am using Mac 10.4 [Tiger version], not looking to upgrade [i have Leopard DVD from Mac came with my MBP if i plan to do].

Hello

If you go to the software download section on the HASSELBLAD homepage
(You must register , but it is for free)
and have a look to the README section of PHOCUS (for MAC) , you will find that OSX 10.5 is required .
The paragraph is called COMPATIBILITY .

I hope this helps .

Jürgen

I can't visit that page, i registered but seems that Access Denied.
Anyway, so if i don't use OSX 10.5 what another software i can use to edit my H3D shots rather than FlexColor?

HASSELBLAD's RAW format 3FR can only be handeled by either FLEXCOLOR or PHOCUS . NO OTHER WAY .
Please note : Once you handeled a 3FR file with PHOCUS , you can not work with that file using FLEXCOLOR .
Furthermore you should know , that PHOCUS requires a high level GC .
The type depends on your PC . This is also mentioned in the README section of PHOCUS .

Registering at HASSELBLAD should not be a problem . What is your problem ?

Ah i see, ok.
I use FlexColor for now, but seems it is not powerful enough for better workflow, only simple and then convert it, so i don't know what Phocus has more than FlexColor.
Just wondering what people were using with H3D before that OSX 10.4 released?
I can register and acess all areas, but only download areas is not allowed [Saying Unauthorized, why i don't know].

I find Flexcolor very powerful and provides the all the primary tools needed to enhance my images. I have been using it for many years .... Of course i also use Photoshop as well to further improve and enhance my photographs.
That said, Phocus is Hassellblad's new Raw converter and offers all the same tools as Flexcolor, With the exceptions, we've added a Moire tools, Straighten tool, color wheel, adjustment browser (replacement for Setup), the ability to save (export) to two different file types. etc.

Phocus is compatible with Leopard 10.5 and intel mac's. If you use Tiger then you will have to use Flexcolor.

May I ask why you have not made the leap to Leopard? If i recall was released on October 26, 2007. Current OS 10.5.6

Currently Hasselblad is on 5th release of Phocus 1.1.2

Registering and logging in: You most likely have registered your name, e-mail, address ... have you entered/registered the serial number from your digital magazine on your H3D? Once you've done this you should have access to the software & firmware areas on the website.

You can convert the files to "dng" in the flexcolor interface in a batch or
You can try this:

http://www.raw-photo-processor.com/RPP/Overview.html

works with MAC Os 10.4 + 10.5
But I agree with Paul, Flexcolor isn´t so bad. And Phocus is incredible, the moire tool is a "must have" for fashion shoots whith clothes!

Thanks Paul,
In fact i started with Mac just at the end of 2007 in our local photography club and they are using OSX 10.4, i loved it and so that i bought my MacBook Pro in the beginning of Jan 2008, it came with 10.4 but they included a DVD of Leopard, but i really like Tiger as i am more comfortable with it and because that time still many softwares were not compatible with Leopard, and after i installed plenty of softwares on my MBP i was worry if i upgrade to Leopard then i will have problems with my computer so that i feel i don't want to upgrade now unless i format it or i don't care of all softwares and files i have already on my Mac.
I am using Flexcolor and it is working fine for me for now, and the results are really amazing, but i just was looking to try Phocus to see if it is more comfortable or simple or easier to work with than FlexColor, to be honest i love Photoshop more than Lightroom so that i don't use lightroom at all.

I registered with username and password and i think there is activiation or whatever, but what is that serial number? and i can go into Members area but only when i press download links it says "UNAUTHORIZED".

Good, i will check again how i can convert to "dng" in FLexColor, but what is that RRP program? i didn't hear about it at all, maybe i should give it a try.

Sorry, this is not correct.

Aperture opens Hasselblad files directly, no conversion to DNG is necessary.

Flexcolor does take a learning curve but is quite capable once you get a grasp of the work flow.

Phocus is quite similar to Lightroom in terms of user interface and work flow ... and unlike Aperture or DNG conversions processed in Lightroom or PSCS2/3, Phocus has many additional features that make it worth learning.

If you still have issues with Phocus once loaded, please read the system requirements for a powerful enough Graphics card to operate it

Anyway, i didn't know that i can convert to DNG with flexcolor, with that now i don't care much about Phocus even i really want to try it, just i don't have any plan to upgrade to 10.5 or latest.
