Phase One P20 - is it worth or not?

Hello everybody,
I am asking for your help regarding a matter I have very little information about. I was offered today a Phase One P20 DB, click counts 12800 in very good condition. The price - 4200 euro.
Although I never considered getting a DB for my Hasselblad, I admit that a digital MF workflow could help me earn some money so I am considering now this acquisition.
Can you please help me with your experiences with particular DB? If you can also comment regarding the price, I would really appreciate. Any other comments on how to enter the Hasselblad digital world would be welcomed as well. :)

Cristian

Does this help maybe? The difference between the P20 and P25 is the sensor (square versus rectangular)

Thanks Paul and Wilko,
I think I will rent that DB for a week-end and see how it fits me. It is very hard to decide, even though there are plenty of resources available on the internet and on this forum. Still, I cannot help of thinking how much film I could buy with all the DB money :).

Thank you again

How much film can you really buy? There is processing and proofs to consider. Wasted frames=$$$, since with digital there are no wasted frames ... you just delete them. Each year you have a digital back, the savings in film costs get greater. In other words, cost savings isn't the criteria to use, if you prefer film that is an entirely different matter.

BTW 4,200 euro is to much for that back IMO. That's over $6,100. US. I just sold my much newer, less used CFV-II which is a better back for a V camera for under $6,000 US.

Hello Marc,
I was kind of joking with the film savings, I am very aware that we are taking about two very different things. In the mean time, I also reached the same conclusion: the price seems to be too steep. I will keep my eyes open for a CFV :)

Cristian

Marc is right about the price for the P 20.

I found a CFV I for 2200 euro about 3300 USD.
That back has a smaller amount of pixels but is better suited for use with a 500 series body outside a studio.

Not many CFV II backs for sale here.
No doubt that situation will change soon.

It seems a bit expensive. I got a whole outfit consisting of Hasselblad H2 with HV90x and PHASE ONE P20 and 80mm 2.8 + postage for £UK4,300. But then I am not up with European prices (I,m in Australia).
