Nikon SB-28 flash?

Does anyone have experience with Nikon SB-28 or Nikon SB-28DX flashes with Hassy 500-series?

I have these flashes and wonder if and how they'd work in conjunction with the hand grip and proper lens-to-flash cord.

Obviously there's no TTL capability, but would they work in an 'auto' function?

Hi,

I don't believe you can have any kind of automation or TTL with these units..

You can PC-sync the flash to your lens port and set the flash power manually, that is what I do...

TTL is only available on the hasselblad 503CW so unless you have that camera don't even worry about it... if you have the 503CW you need to buy a SCA 390 flash adaptor and use it with compatible flash units (like metz)

If you mean by 'auto' that the flash' own automation (' computer flash ' as it was called) would work: yes, why not?

My 503CX also has ttl flash capability!

Hasselblad bodies offering TTL:

503CX, 503CXi, 503CW

500ELX, 553ELX, 555ELD

201F, 202FA, 203FE, 205TCC, 205FCC

Now I have some Nikon flashs even if I do not have any Nikon camera.

These flashs are very interesting as you can use in A mode, M mode and may have smart slave mode too (SB-26 for ex.)
I sold 2 Hasselblad flash (Pro-flash and D-40) last week as Hasselblad TTL-flash does not work propely with "digital films".
The big problem to use flash with Hasselblad is the way to carry them.

Thanks to all for the input; perhaps I could have been more
descriptive in the original post.

I know the Nikon flashes won't offer TTL with any Hassy, so more interested in 'auto' or 'manual' modes.

Unfortunately my Hassy eqpt is still in the U.S. but arranging to have
it shipped to China ASAP. Since I have several older Nikon flashes which are like new. I hope to be able to use them in 'A' or 'M' with a flash grip and the proper cable (which is coming, too).

Decades ago, a Honeywell Strobonar worked well in auto on a 500 C/M. Hopefully, Nikon's SB flashes will work better.

Has anyone used Nikon flashes on a Hassy?

Thanks.

Both A and M mode should work fine with Hasselblad cameras.

If output allows for it use wide angle settings of the SB 28.

I think if I raise this qustion again any answers could be helpful For David Winter and me to find a way to make use of Nikon flash on Blad (203fe)
