My CFV forgets what day it is.

Steve

When you connect your CFV , using the FW cable , to your computer and you start either FLEXCOLOR or PHOCUS , the TOY/TOD setting is done automatically . I have just checked both . If you leave your back attached for 12 hours , the TOY/TOD settings should last for some time . ? ? ?
I do the hookup always about 2-3 hours before I am going to use the back .

I have tried the "recharge" many times, it lasts maybe a day or so. It's easier to just go to settings and reset...I am also no sure what long term effect will occur by trying to repeatedly re-charge a defective battery/circuit board with 12 hour cycles.

I guess that the best way to deal with this is either to get it fixed and then trust it to work or to assume that it'll not work and set it every time you switch on the back.

Otherwise you'll get confused and end up with some photos with a 2000 date which can be annoying if you are using a modern photo library like Aperture that uses the date in its sort calculation.

Annoying but not a show-stopper.

Memory retention solved

The CFV I use had gone through this problem once upon a time. Reading through the thread has brought it all back to me... yes the most annoying thing of all was soon after getting it back was that it went wrong again...., and yes before that- having to keep leaving it switched on for long periods to maintain the data, which was the reason why I'd sent it away in the first place. At the time I was unaware anyone else had been getting the same problem, I put it down to bad luck and I was seriously considering parting with it (I'm so glad that I didn't now).

I'll try and find out this weekend what was done to fix the memory problem. I do remember my friend, (spacecraft electronics designer) taking it away to a cleanroom where he works and doing an alteration to the circuit. What I can say for sure is that he'd 100% succeeded, after even the manufacturer themselves had failed, and since then the CFV has worked fine ever since and never lost its memory.

Wow, ancient history.

Many years ago, my CFV went for a short vacation to Goteburg where it was fixed.

Take it to your nearest Hasselblad service center.

You are right, the only problem was that they didn't manage to fix mine and charged me a fair price into the bargain. I love my CFV-16, works like a charm and now retains the memory. I realise most people would simply keep sending it back to Hasselblad (service centres here in UK don't work on digital backs they send them off), I guess I am lucky enough to have a friend in the electronic design field who has managed to fix the problem.. I have wondered if this same problem occurred in the CFV39 & even the CFV50 or if they had managed to find a solution.. Anyone?

If anyone is interested, I will be meeting with my friend early next month and could find out some information about this.

My CFV39 can't keep the Day/Time setting as well . Same bloody bug as with my CFV16 .
Unfortunately the extended warranty has expired .

I would be very happy to ask my friend if he would be willing to do any more repairs and ask him how much he would charge (Im sure it won't be anywhere near what I paid initially from the service centre) If you are interested shoot me a PM

exif editor to change TOY/TOD for Mac?

Anybody know of a Mac app that will change the exif date/time of 3FR files?
I looked at exiftools for the mac, but it doesn't support writing of 3FR.

Hello. I don't know of an app that can do this, but it is possible in Adobe Lightroom 4. In Library view, go to Metadata - Edit capture time.
