Hi guys, I am planing on a series of Long exposes on some land scapes as the whether in London getting better now-a-days.
My plane is to use my gear

203fe / 50-150 zoom
Tri-x 400
Kokin Filter holder / Filters red and green ( I don't have any graduated filters though) / Minolta light meter / Manfrotto

Any suggestions or experience to share to Help my plan!!!

Thanks and have a nice Photogenic week-end! evry body

I wonder what lens you are considering for this purpose.
As far as I know there is no 50-150 zoom lens.

The only zoom lens for 200 series bodies is the 60-120 made by Kyocera for Hasselblad.
Probably one of the best if not the best zoomlens in the world.
Still I would opt for a lens or lenses with fixed focal length.

Sorry polypal,
I correct again as you are right and I made a mistake .Yes the lens is
60-120mm Fe. sorry for confusing,

Unfortunatey I don't have a Standerd or medium wide lens except 150mm short focal which dosen't cinvince me at all for focal point. All i can think with the zoom, it gives me a little option at 60mm although this is not a prime lens

Thanks Paul, and have a good week-end!!

Regards
Cyril

Polypal ,Very interestering. I din't know this best zoom in the world facter. But I happened to use the camera hand held in public streets very silly me. As it look very funny and Bulky and heavy. Some times back my old photos look great in colours and crisp sharpness .No apprant hand shake.

Thanks again Paul.

It is considered the best zoom lens but it is still a bulky and heavy lens.

For the 200 series bodies there are several faster alternatives.

Weight would not be a problem because most landscapes can be done using a tripod.

With low light, you will need a tripod. In this case 400 is not needed.

What do you mean with long exposures ? Few seconds or part of houre ?
In this case the 203FE witch need battery is not the best choise. A 100% mecanical body is beter. In this case (more than 2 secondes) the F lenses works with 500M too !

Thanks blowupster!

a) Just like in Pin hole photography Long Minutes in exposures to hava Dramatic foreground like Sky. That is my idea. so more than seconds exposure perhaps longer than half a minutes.
Tha's what i mean by long exposeurs!!!!

b) For the Battery!! I have a special external connector that gives me option to operate the camera with ( 6w) 6AA batteries so I can have some extra batteris handy.

C) of course with a tripod. and some slow speed films again as 50 ASA <orthrocromatic> or as 400 ASA trix is ( my favourite )very flexible in latitude in most of the situations.can it help to pull it down and compensating in development.

Graduated filters helps a lot , But I don't have any for this lense and for the filter. But I have three BXW filters.I don't have any other lenses either.

Thanks again for the reply

Cyril

Slower speed... Maybe 50 or 100

It sounds like you have whats needed, but you may want to think about slower film. Though I am somewhat new to film, my experience with long exposures is enough that I believe 400 is too fast.
