Kodak and nonBayer sensors

I saw some info on this as well. It's basically a cross between a Bayer pattern sensor, and a monochrome sensor. Instead of having two G cells for every R & B, you have one RG&B and one "pan" ie simply no filter cell (that's one implementation). BTW, the two G cells are simply to increase contrast. It comes across as no one has ever thought of or done this before...which is not the case...so I'm not sure what to make of it yet.
