Hoods or ProShade

Q.G.

The hoods are produced by WIDEPAN in china and are of excellent quality . They are named "for HASSELBLAD" and are rather cheap in comparison to HASSELBLAD prizes . Perhaps the chinese have seen the death of the V-SYSTEM much earlier than most of us . And perhaps one day , they take up the V-SYSTEM production ? ? ?

Ok. No more speculations .
The rework to a 60/60 was very succesful and rather easy as soon as you know , how to do it the best way .

<<Simon

I will try to shorten a 60/80 hood according to the measurements Q.G gave earlier in this thread . If I am successful , I will send you one.>>

Some may remember Jurgen's generous offer and how he planned to machine a dedicated 60mm lens hood with the help of QG's actual measurement.

Well today I received a WONDERFUL surprise - a bespoke lens hood for the Distagon CF 60mm lens. I cannot even tell that it is machined from an 80mm version. It is as if it arrived from the factory. Jurgen is not only generous but one very clever machinist or fabricator.

Maybe this is one of only 2 known dedicated 60mm lens hoods in captivity - a collectors item!

Anyway, I will be giving this baby its workout this weekend. And for the record, my sincere thanks to Jurgen.

Absolutely correct Elliot - there are regulars here who go to a lot of trouble to help out others with answers and solutions.

This may not be a very busy forum but the quality of contributions is outstanding.

Then we see wonderful acts of generosity like I experienced from Jurgen and Marc.

So new visitors here can be sure they will get intelligent and helpful responses.

Hi All,

I've been away for a while, but now I've finished repairing a pro-shade, 6093, and made my own Bay 50 adaptor. My problem had been with flare whilst photographing birds by remote (you can't be sure that the sun is not causing a problem without going and checking the viewfinder, and sometimes even grey skies can cause flare).

The difference in lattitude (allowable variation in sun's angle) is remarkable compared with the standard bayonet shade, and I'm convincing myself that the results show better contrast.

My problem now, is locating a suitable (slot in sheet) Graduated ND filter, any ideas anybody?

Regards and thanks to all,

Gérard

Hi Gilbert,
Many thanks for that, I'll try them today!

For the adaptor I used a bayonet from a polar filter which had been struck by the dreaded Hassy Polar fogging.

If anybody wants a photo I'll post it.

Regards to all,
Gérard
