Help with "Bad Image" message...

U2 fans

New Member
I am a newbie to Medium format photography and I am having trouble taking pictures with a Hasselblad 503cw with a cfv digital back.

The trouble I am having is while I am attempting to take a picture, the message "Bad Image" is repeatedly coming up. It appears as if the back is recording something but always reports this message.

I have re-formatted the CF card several times and that isn't the issue. I have it set on the "CW winder" setting in the menu... and nothing is helping. Since there is no dark slide with this back, that isn't the case either.

If anyone knows the trouble (or better yet the solution) I would be very obliged.

Thanks

Please give more details about your hardware (503CW + what) set up and your CFV settings .
Including cable and winder etc.
A bad image message looks to me as a bad syncronization , caused by wrong settings and/or wrong hardware setup.

Sync cord and lens settings

Sorry it has been a bit since I have posted, but I have been doing other things and almost forgot about this.

Are you using the sync cord, or if not, have you set the shutter speed on the CFV to correspond with what is set on the lens?

I tried both and to no avail... I am beginning to think that the digital back is messed up.

Check if the cable is OK - it sometimes breaks inside if bent or screwed to much/many times or alternatively at the connector . Can be done with a cheap multimeter, put in to measure resistance (i.e. ohm) and check if there is connection at both ends of the cable for both the signal and the ground.

Cheers,

Ronald
