Hasselblad V series 2005 catalogue

Elliot,

Let me put it this way: they introduced the camera in 2004. They have promised to start delivering a few times already, but that was "unfortunately [...] delayed a little".
Meanwhile, they have found "a potential for improvements, which we definitely want to implement in the serial products".
The first ones are supposed to be delivered right now, delivery of this batch scheduled to be complete in march 2006. But they are not delivered to shops quite yet. No prediction when (if ever) that will happen.
So i'll retract my perhaps too harsh "flopped", and replace it with "hanging in the balance".

Gilbert,

No. I'm not in control. So let's all do whatever we like.

The fact, by the way, that this thread was started as a new thread is neither here nor there.

The main reason they were selling camera lenses is to keep the Zeiss name in the minds of the general public. Their eye glasses and current mobile phone venture will do that just fine. >

Perhaps, here in the USA, outside of photography Zeiss is better known to the general public from their sports optics. Now telephones, and point and shoot digital cameras. Eyeglasses are not well known here, albeit Zeiss's money maker, if you will. There are very few providers and few Dr's offering them even now. I made numerous inquires for many years before I was able to find a provider. Zeiss has offered a several pairs through Wal-Mart for last few years with a proprietary coating made just for Wal-Mart. Not claret advantage, eg. One prevalent venture into the public mind is lens cleaning supplies.

We (finally) also know that this the bit of the forum devoted to discussions of Hasselblad 503 cameras>

FYI:The email subject line shows "Hasselblad V series 2005 catalogue"

If you check the title at the top of the forum page you will find the following. "Camera-info.com Medium Format Forum » Hasselblad System » 503 CW / 503 CX / CXi » Hasselblad V series 2005 catalogue" and the first post is from me about the Hasselblad V series 2005 catalogue.

That's right, Gilbert.

Give some thought to the what, how and why of the "» 503 CW / 503 CX / CXi »" bit, and you'll understand.

Zeiss' money maker is not the eye glass division either. Visit their website http://www.zeiss.de/ and see what they are really about.
Of their last year's sales totalling 2.1 billion Euros, only some 230 million were generated by the opto-electronic branch.
That branch comprises cine-lenses, P&S lenses, cell-phone lenses, video camera lenses, display technology, planetaria, projection optics for image projectors ('beamers'), and military optronics. Oh, and some camera lenses too.

Best wishes.

Mention Zeiss to my non-photographically inclined friends and you'll get responses like, "binoculars, microscopes and planitarium projectors" Of course, back in the UK in the 60's we all owned a pair of Zeiss Umbrals (sunlasses)

Wow, Gilbert that Sinar gear looks fascinating. I am familiar with their LF gear but never have seen their digi-MF gear. Thanks and happy Christmas to all.
