Hasselblad-V lens shade

I just purchased a hasselblad 501CM with a hasselblad CB 80mm 2.8.
Is it neccesary to use this lens with a lens shade ?

I recommend using a hood on all lenses. It protects your picture from flare and the lens itself from knocks and bumps. I use them on all my lenses. They are quite inexpensive these days on the used market. Get one!

Good advice from Terry.

Do not fall into the trap of the cheap Chinese made shades, they are no good.

Get yourself an original Hasselblad shade.
Prices for used ones are quite friendly.
New ones do seem overpriced.

Forget about T* coating, a good shade will be much more effective against back light.

And the hood for the 80mm is realy made for 80mm only !
