Hasselblad 200 with Phase One No Body Modifications

filmcapture

New Member
Here's my solution for Hasselblad 200 series working with Phase One without having to go for any body modifications. It might work for other digital backs such as Sinar, Leaf or Hasselblad, however, I have not tried any of them.

To open the file simply download adobe reader.

Download is free: http://www.adobe.com/fr/

With this software you can read all pdf documents.

I selected the French version for you as it is the language spoken in your part of the country.

I use another PC and succed to open. Perhaps old adobe version was not able to open the file.

The idea is interesting perhaps not so practical. I've a 2000FCM witch works perfectly and an almost dead 2000F I bought for the viefinder only. I opened the 2000F and noticed that it could be easy to set an electical triger that use the position of the miror.

I've the kodak pro back (not the "+" one) with the ELD.
The first pro back need complex process to works, and thisfor It is usable only with the ELD and flash syncro. (At the end it's the kodak proback that fire the ELD !)
The Kodak Pro+ with ELD do not need the flash syncro to works. That means that the ELD has a trigger and communication for digital back.
I don't understand why the 203FE "modified for digital" have not the "ELD type trigger" (on the left) and let the "E film back" usable(on the right).
Such modification allows the 2000F and 201F to be CFVable.

Inside a 2000F with 5 genuine triggers

This is a document that I created to answer the questions that photographers may have regarding modifiying their 200 camera or not. Page 2 will show the option of a Kapture Group one shot cable for 200/2000 series cameras and FE lens.

Good information!

Your DIY experiment verified that there is nothing mythtical about the "synchronization problem". It is basically an on/off switch to cover the shutter exposure duration. The manufacturer should have easily advised customer about the "why" and "how" of those synch cables.

Your using of cell phone cable button is a clever one. I was looking for a mini "timer" as the on/off switch. But the cell phone button is simple, small and readily available. Thanks.

Hi Yongfei, how's your DIY Alpa?

You are right, this is just a simple synchronization problem. The purpose is to ensure the DB exposure time should cover the shutter's "on" time. In terms of electrical engineering, that's no "setup time" and "hold time" violations. I remember I paid about $90 for a Phase One wake-up/sync cable from Capture Integration, which can be simply replaced by a $5 cellular phone one-touch headset and a flash hot-shoe connector. A Kapture Group on-shot cable costs $395, IMHO, I don't think there's anything magic inside.

DIY stuff

Hi, my "Alpa" is just an experiment. I already nailed down the focusing. So far everything seems to be good. I am also getting parts for a K...88 (rear section) +Copal #1 based Alpa TC system using Nikon lenses.

Glad to know that the cell phone switch works for you. I may search Radio Shack to see if there is any better on/off switch. Currently I connect my back to a Polaroid copal shutter as the 1 sec timer. It can synch my Hartblei (K... 88) to the 1/1000. You may consider getting a K... 88CM system too;-)

The K word

OK guys this is as far as it goes.

There are two things I can not stand:
Using other peoples industrial design, disregarding their rights and simply copying it.
Making inferior products and letting the buyers solve the problems.
Both are 100% present in K... cameras.
That word will not be used here as long as I am moderator.

Sorry youngfei the product you are recommending is an inferior piece of work no matter what is being modified, upgraded etc.
Please accept my judgement on this.
This thing does not deserve the word camera.

Great thanks to filmcapture for sharing experiments.

Of course it's not the best ergonomical tool I saw this year, but the "K.." one is not satisfying to my use too.
However, the 1$ modification helps to understand what is needed for improve 2000F body or 203 when you wants to keep E-12 facility and use digital back.
It's now harder to me to understand the 400$ needed tu cut usefull fingers of a 203 body.

Sorry I was off the topic

I was trying to confirm that with this method, the back will also be able to synchronize with other focal plane shutter cameras. Sorry that I should not discuss this K camera on a Hasselblad forum. I talked to Filmcapture before in another forum, so I was just joking with him;-)

No problem yongfei.

The K... thing is one of my sensitive spots similar to a visit to the dentist.......

Lets face it: with current prices for Hasselblad 500 series cameras and lenses who wants those K things?
