Hi MFolks,

I've dabbled in MF over the years but realised I had been missing it lately, so I jumped on eBoy and grabbed myself a Mamiya C330 F Blue Dot in reportedly excellent condition. I'll find out if that is true in a few days time. I had the same type of camera the first year I took up film photography, 2013. I thought the shots were awful, and sold the camera. The buyer (a friend) complained that the light seals were in a parlous state, and no wonder I had poor results - I was too green, of course. A bad workman blames his tools, etc. Luckily the buyer said he could fix that himself.

So, I thought I'd try again with the C330F. Results will be shared in due course.

Here are a few from the vaults, starting with the C330, the only shots without light leaks:

1. Daughter and Wife - C330. Deliberately OOF (it's ART!)

2. Canal in Oxford, taken with the non-folding Mamiya 6. I'd put a roll of b&w film in before this colour roll, and neglected to take off the orange filter...but I quite like the result:

3. And another from the same roll:

Sadly I was very ill through 2004 and most of 2005, and was forced to sell a lot of gear, including the Mamiya 6. In recovery now, and also retired. I have more time for photography. I also recently bought for £12 a Seagull 203 folder, which might not work at all, and also an Ensign Carbine No. 5 for not much more, and which also might not work. Why these two purchases? The great English poet, Philip Larkin, was also a keen photographer, and he owned these two cameras (not the actual ones, just the models), and I thought it would be a fun project to record images using these cameras, while writing my own poems. We shall see. Post is slow at this time of year, so I'm still awaiting their arrival.

Anyway, I'll see you around...

Rob

The above had me looking through more files from the past. These three from my first year with the RB67 Pro SD - 2013 - first roll. A Leica IIIf, a Zeiss Nettar, and some calvados, which I can't remember drinking (maybe that's the point?!). The last was re-edited today to salvage it.

Thanks, boojum. I can see this is not a very busy forum, but the contributions are of good quality.

Calvados was once a weakness of mine. A proletarian drink that could rise to nobility and always that hint of apple blossoms. Normandy is to be praised for it.

And medium format raises the charm level of all.
