Focussing Screen 3042219

I am disappointed to report that the Hasselblad 203 Acute Matte D Split image / Grid Screen, Catalogue Number: 3042219 is no longer manufactured.

I tried to buy this screen from the Pro Centre in London who then checked with both Hasselblad UK and Sweden who confirmed there are no more in stock and it is no longer made.

So much for my attempts to help my focussing and composing! :(

Try Bill Maxwell at Maxwell Precision Optics.

He should be able to help, or can make you a custom screen so nice, you might not even remember the Acute Matte D... :)

He loves to talk, so be prepared, but he knows his stuff. I've ordered several screens from him and have been very happy.

He doesn't have a website (but you can look here). In reality, it is best to call him.

Screens for 202FA/203FE

The 42217 is a perfect alternative from Hasselblad.
Only thing it does not have is the 20 mm circle showing the area the weighted light measurement is active in
The 42217 is available from stock.

Thanks for the good advice

Thanks Paul,

Good advice as usual. There is a UK dealer selling one for £164 brand new so I will enquire tomorrow.

On this version I notice the rangefinder matches the 205 metering zone - perhaps I will get a 205 one fine day!

In practice, I don't believe not seeing the 203 metering zone on the 42217 will be an issue as the main subject is in the centre 95% of the time. The real skill is in understanding the way a centre weighted meter 'thinks' and compensating where required.

Thanks Jürgen

Thanks Jürgen,

I can see that Sh-Photo have a lot of very nice new Hasselblad items - they are not cheap but I think they may be the only source for some items now.

Regards

Kevin
