Focusing ring for an 80mm CF

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm a fresh owner of a 500c/m and an 80mm CF lens. Sometime during the last 20 years or so, the lens has lost its rubber focusing ring. Does anyone have any pointers on where one could acquire a replacement?

For what it's worth, I'm based in Finland and have already tried two local key Hasselblad repair authorities, Color-Kolmio and Mustonen & Laine.

Is it crucial? Not really, I paid a fair price and knew this beforehand and it's still usable.

Your lens is one of many where this snap ring is missing.
Some traders buy and sell lenses without even noticing a part is missing.

The part your lens is missing is still available from Hasselblad.
Specialist repaircentres for Hasselblad have that part in stock.
It is a part that often fails. It can brake simply by lifting a lens from a bag or suitcase.

These incidents have given a lot of comment from owners not understanding that this can happen to an expensive lens.
Weak makers added to plastic parts tend to grow less active causing these parts to become brittle.
A small impact is enough to brake those rings.

Nothing serious just a nuissance that can be taken care of.
Depending on the lens the ring will cost 30-60 euro.
It is a press fit no tools are required, simple DIY job.

Is the snap ring the same for 40, 50 and 80 mm lenses? The local Hasselblad repair center said they have run out of the 80 mm rings but have 40, 50 and some for the longer lenses.

Are you quite sure you did not confuse the local bicycle shop with the local Hasselblad center?

The rings for 40 mm CF lenses and 80 mm CF lenses are the same.
I just fitted one that I ordered a while ago for an 80 mm lens to a 40 mm CF.

That seems quite plausible But hey, Helsinki is kinda like in the backwoods, you know... There aren't that many bicycle repair shops here.

So, I think I'll take my CF and go see the guys. Thanks a lot!
