Flash synch problem with 250mm C lens

I was recently trying to take a polaroid with my 250mm C lens in a studio setup. When I pulled the polaroid, it was straight black... when I used the old 120mm C lens for the same shot, the polaroid came out fine.

I just got this lens and this was my first experience with it, is this a common problem with old C lenses, it appears to be fine other than the flash synch problem, the shutter fires, and the shutter speeds all sound pretty accurate.

Put the lens on X, or it wont sync. The biggest nightmare for wedding photographers so I've heard....
