First results from new Ektar film

No idea,

I use the Minox as a housing to carry my toothbrush in.
That is an excellent purpose for these little cameras. No idea what model it was.

Especially nowadays security personnel at airports are impressed by my toothbrush carrier.
They always ask me why I carry so many Mickey Mouse bottles of soap, after shave, shaving gel etc. with me.
Answer: it is a big body to keep in good shape. I need those supplies.

I have just tried 2 times to post here and when I click "submit" the posting disappears for ever!!

Sorry guys but my patience has come to an end!

My points were re colour saturation, grain, characteristics of fine grain slide film, scans etc.

Cheers.

Ok, now to try again!

My points were that the user commets I have read an imags I have seem (bearing in mind 72dpi limitations of course) is that the super fine grain actually give a look somewhat similar to digital native images. It looks very smooth - but not too "plastic".

The tonality is quite beautiful so Kodak seems to have done a great job.

I have also heard that it is excellent for scanning - maybe the best so far. But, I am not surprised because Ektar must have been developed with scanning in mind - I'm sure the vast majority scan their film frequently, so logically Kodak should keep that in mind.

Here, Down Under, the film is still not available. So given the terrific price B&H have on it, my first batch will be coming from them - 35mm and 120 versions.

And here sits the happiest HASSELBLAD collector in the world .

That is for sure!! :z04_5769:

Jurgen was so happy, that I could hear his cries of joy down here in Melbourne all the way from Sonthofen!! As clear as a Zeiss SA!! :)

Well my friend Jurgen now has a "family" to be very proud of. And of course we are now all awaiting beautiful sample images!

BUt, the family photo will come first! :)

Well done Jurgen and very well done by those who helped him catch the elusive mint SWA.

Simon

In the meantime , I have spent her new shoes (quick coupling shoe) and a skylight filter including the screw in lenshood . She is an absolute beauty .
A family photo will follow . :z04_photos:

Fantastic Jurgen!

I have spent her new shoes

Like all good women she needs many pairs of shoes! Then there will be bags to match, jewelery .... and the list will go on! :z04_5769:

Fuc . Vintage family is complete now .

Here just a quick shot of my glas cabinet .
Since the SWA has arrived , I had to reorganize the distribution of the seats . The SW and SWA have the latest model of the quick shoe coupler attached . That enables a better standing in the glas cabinet .

Top row from left to right :
The SW , built in 1957 , SWA built in 1954 , the VINTAGE QUEEN (lens , body and magazine are as sold in 1952) . See third row of the ledger book . Lens is KODAK EKTAR 2,8/80 with metric distance scale . I am now the second owner of this camera .

Bottom row left to right :
1600F built in 1953 . One of the last 1600F , as the 1000F was already in production . Its lens is the PANCAKE TESSAR , 2,8/80 .
Then a 1000F with OPTON TESSAR 2,8/80 .

Single lens in the top row is a KODAK EKTAR 3,5/135mm with feet scale .
The four lenses in the bottom row are DISTAGON 5,6/60 , the 5,6/250 SONNAR , the 4/250 TESSAR (lying) and the 3,5/135 SONNAR .

View attachment 1311

Bottom row still shows extension rings 20 and 40 mm .

A "FINE ART PORTRAIT" of the SWA will follow .

All gear is in top condition and fully functional and I am the only one , who is allowed to touch these beauties . With cotton gloves only .

The VINTAGE QUEEN , the 3,5/135mm EKTAR lens and the SWA could only be aquired with the outstanding organization and help from Paul (polypal) .
Many , many thanks to him again .

Of course , there are still many little items not shown here , but belonging to the VINTAGE series (up to 1957) of the wonderful HASSELBLAD cameras .

Now , here is the most important question to Paul .
Can I now become a member of the SWC/M club ? ? ? :)

Regards , Jürgen , the happiest HASSELBLAD collector in the world . :z04_photos:

Hello Jürgen,

I will have to discuss your application for membership with Ian who is the founder of the SWC register.
There is a reasonable chance that I will be able to persuade him to consider your application.
Ian is away on urgent business, also known as holiday, in Scotland.
I expect him back next week.
Please reserve the usual donation and make it available at my account with UBS.

In the mean time it would be nice to know more of the background of your SWA camera.
I am sure Rick will be able to find your SWA in the copies of the ledgers he has safely stored in his vault.

Congratulations from me as well with this new member of the Hasselblad family.
This SWA was meant for you. There can not be any doubt about that.

Paul

Just a question,
does a vey early SWA with a later SW lens qualify me for that SWC/M register? I do not have such a modern thing like a SWC/M, just a SWC (black T*).

Ulrik

Yes Paul , you are right .
I will contact RICK with some more details in the next days .
Jürgen

Hello Ulrik,

The register is simply called SWC register.
The addition /M is something Jürgen came up with because it was suggested to limit membership to SWC/M owners only.
Jürgen qualifies because he has both the SWA and the SW cameras.

It seems you do not qualify yet.
The purchase of a decent SW may change that of course.
I could turn a blind eye to this ommission of the SW if you make a generous donation to the account at UBS.

More details can be obtained by pm.

You may have noticed there is no strong control over the content in threads.
Going off tropic is part of the relaxed atmosphere of hasselbladinfo forum.

I am moderator and not police officer.
Of course if this annoys you there are other forums.
