Fast colour and B&W negative films

At ISO 100 Portra 160 is better than at ISO 160.
At 400 it is very thin.
Beyond that, all you get is stuff to throw in the bin.

Tallies welll with the 5 stop lattitude mentioned.

Well put QG

I have run some 160 Portra as I mentioned to Gilbert I'd try it out for the fun of it - bearing in mind that 5 stops is INCREDIBLE latitude in anyone's books. I won't have it processed before late next week.

So, I shot it at 160, 250, 400, 640 to see what happens. I've also shot it at 80, 100, 160 to make that comparison too.

I must add that when I shot the 800 Portra at 640 the images were superb. Pushed to 1600 (exposed at 1250) produced 95% equally superb results with hardly any visible increase in grain.

Happy Christmas and New Year to you all.

Marc, thanks so much for the detailed suggestions for digital enhancements to these images. I read them carefully over the weekend and am very grateful for the time and effort you gave it.

Your suggestion of overlaying 2 images is a very logical one, so I'll be giving these tips to the guy who will enhance them for printing.

For me, you've added much to my digi-post-processing knowledge, so I'm doubly grateful and indebted to you.

Thanks again and I hope yours in a very happy and safe Christmas.

And best wishes to you too.

People, can we now again expect to find messages about 503 C(..) cameras in this section, next time we see a "new" icon next to this section's well-chosen name and click through to see what's new?
