Well, as I said I would, I have fired off a test film around my local village and developed the film (Ilford 400 Delta Pro) in Ilfosol S. Having taken into account all of your tips and pointers I have found that the results are markedly different. No sign of the previous problem!
So thank you to all who helped me out and I look forward to getting out there and taking some great pictures. Here are just a few from the roll so you can see the difference. I have deliberately not cropped them.
