Dreaming for a Hasselblad

Merry Christmas to you also! Re "dreaming of a Hasselblad"......I'm wishing this one would magically appear under my Christmas tree, but my wife tells me I haven't been good enough....."good luck next year" she says. :(

So folks....if there was one Hasselblad item you'd like to see under the tree this year, what would it be?

Merry Christmas!

The only difference between men and boys ... is the price of their toys!

H4D/60 ............. $40,000.

HC50-II ............. $ 4,200.

HT/S-1.5 ............ $ 6,200.

Santa's Total ... $50,400.

Two 120lb Rottweiler's to guard it all ... priceless.

Ho, Ho, Ho ... Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Indeed! That is a real beauty!!

Officially put the H4D-40 Stainless on my Christmas wish list yesterday, with the Ferrari edition as a second choice option (only because I know how much my wife like's RED). This was her response:

"I would get it for you in a heartbeat if I had the means to do so!"
"Oh, I forgot to mention…I really do like the Ferrari model! :)"

Probably for the best......I would be too embarrassed to be seen in public with the Ferrari edition.

Gary, if you sold just part of your vast collection you could have that stainless H4D ... LOL!

That's what I did eventually, and used the money to get a Leica S2P as an in-between MFD companion to the H4D/60.

Every time I see that photo of the stainless, I look around the studio and vault for more stuff to sell. Not much left.

BTW, I've seen some decent deals for the stainless in the past few months.

My Christmas wish list is pretty modest ... I asked for a Think Tank 3 lens Lens Changer bag in grey to match the Hassey.

Most extensions of the H4D/60 capabilities has been in the form of lighting ... recently added a Mola Beamm 33" Beauty Dish which is an amazing piece of kit.

IMO, lighting is the single most impactful addition you can make on the quality of MFD photography.

That's also the advice I get from many of my photog friends here in Alaska.....but I'd have a hard time deciding which systems to part with, so instead, I just keep adding new ones or adding more gear to existing systems. Crazy, I know. Oh well.....for the moment at least...."life is good".

Which is a perfect example of why I SHOULD sell the Pentax 645 system (and a whole lot more)......your experience with the Leica S2 system put it into the "want" column for me.....but it's far outside my reach at the moment.

I know so little about artifical lighting.......although I did get a Canon MT-24EX twin light macro ring flash recently for use with my Canon DSLRs and 100mm f2.8 macro lens....the results have amazed me! That's something I really should learn more about in 2012.

Merry Christmas Marc!

Oh boy Gary, I know how hard that decision is. It reminded me of when I was a kid and decided it was time to grow up ... so I gave away my vast comic collection and a huge bunch of cool toys to poorer kids that virtually had nothing.

I was depressed for a month.

Similarly, I sold complete 503CW and 203FE systems, I mean everything I had collected for decades, all the Canon stuff, a 949 scanner, a Minolta MF scanner, all kinds of exotic bits and pieces, all the Nikon F6 and D3X stuff including a range of Zeiss ZF glass for them ... everything.

Mostly, I just couldn't see the point of continuing to supporting two different Hasselblad systems with similar sensors and form factors ... and when it came time to either go with a CFV/50, or the H4D/60 I had to make a decision.

Instead, I now have a different form factor in the S2P ... so this time there was no seller's remorse ... the S2P is hardly a depressing repercussion ... :)

Merry Christmas to you and yours also Gary ... and to all the forum members a great New Year!
