DOF preview is stuck

I have a couple of Hasselblad 500-series lenses. The old ones work fine, but the newer ones (CF-lenses) both have the same issue. The DOF preview is stuck. So, the aperture isn't all open when trying to focus, but it shows the aperture which is set. Am I doing something wrong here (what a coincidence that both these lenses have this issue), or should I just take it for service and is this a normal issue with these lenses?

Two lenses with the same problem looks like a problem with handling.

The DOF lever on CF lenses works differently than the one on C series lenses.
To close the aperture to the preset value move the lever to the left untill it locks.
An engaged DOF can be set free by pushing down the LH side of the lever. It will then move back to its original position.

With an engaged DOF lever choosing the max aperture will not reset the DOF. That works only with C series lenses.

Good luck!

Thanks. I tried it, but it doesn't work. I guess I have the strange 'luck' to have two lenses with the same defect.

That looks a job for a repair shop then.
Sometimes dirt and or corrosion are the cause for sticky DOF controls.

wait! i had the same problem and basically you need to learn the trick,

press the lever down and softly pull the bottom part outwards

pull the lever like if you were trying to take it apart... (softly)

Any idea about the prices for parts?
Not to mention labour when something goes wrong in this department.
My guess is this is an extraordinairy coincidence, two lenses with the same problem.
To make sure it is not an operator "fault" it is best to ask someone who knows these lenses well to check them.

I just brought it to a well respected service mechanic. He never heard of the problem before. He was puzzled. But to have two lenses with the same problem was some kind of miracle. I bought the lenses from different sellers on different continents, so it sure is a coincidence.

i'm sorry if i did sound "over the top"

basically when you push the lever down it should come automatically outwards a little bit so it "disengages" from the lock..

so what i was suggesting is to manually help the lever out of the "locked" position, nothing wrong with that and i do it everyday with my 2 lenses...

hope they don't go wrong now!

rmtz, I had this with an 80/2.8 and honestly, with a counter-intuitive slight pulling of the lever in the opposite direction, it comes free. hope this works for you.
