Distagon 4/40 C T* and CFV ?

Good evening,

I'm close to buying a Distagon C 4/40 T* for my 500C/M. I work with both film and a CFV-II back. For film it'll be fine I guess, but how about the combination of 40mm lens and CFV-II back ? Do you have any experience with 40mm C T* and CFV-II, either good or bad ?

Regards,

The CFV back will probably show the C 40's limitations when used wide open.
Two stops closed will give good results, similar to that of a CF 40 lens.

For digital the 40 IF is recommended.

Indeed.

I must say I would be interested to see side by side comparison shots using a CF40FLE and a CFi40IF on a high-spec digital back.

I have the old black 40mm F4 (non-T*), I'd like to see CFV side-by-side comparisons, against the more modern CF-type lenses.

I do like my lens for shooting film. And yes I've noticed it's a bit soft in the corners, shooting near wide-open. Like it alot stopped-down, F8 and F11 produce excellent results for me :)

That means even more work for Jürgen.
He will be up to his ears in all sorts of testing.
All those tests will hardly give him a chance to enjoy his new CFV39.

With a C 40 and a CF 40 from my collection Jürgen will have all 40 mm lenses and both CFV DBs as well.

I think it is only fair to let him decide if and when he is up to this kind of testing.
Lets not forget good images are more important than good tests.
