Difference in the film advance indicator on A12s

Hi,
I have two A12s. One from 1969 and one from 1980 (provided the serial number prefixes are anything to go by).

The window in the lock on the side of the 1980 A12 goes from silver and no red to no silver and all red as I advance the roll from 1 to 12, the 1969 does not. It is silver until I unload the mag after the roll has been exposed and as such indicates an empty mag.

Is this how it is supposed to be given the backs' vintages?

Thanks,
Carl

The indicator should gradually change colour according to the amount of film frames being exposed.

You can check this function by pressing the control inside the insert.

Thanks, that was a helpful tip. It seems it works when pressing on the 'spring' with my finger, but not when a roll is loaded. Needs a little TLC I would imagine after 50 years.
