CF2239 Backs on a V camera

I charge a rental/capture fee to the ad agency ... that is in turn passed on to the client doing the advertising for their goods or services ... who then passes it on to you in the price of those goods or services.

So, all of you eventually pay for my digital backs : -)

Thank you all so much !!!!

Hi Larry,

That seems quite high, but I have not priced those sensors, and this is a very low volume application. I'm sure that HasselCon has negotiated about as good a price as one can get though.

I'll do an RFQ to Kodak and find out. But, I'm reasonably sure that HasselCon's price will be significantly less than mine. For ex&le, I get quoted $3k for a TI mirror array chipset, that I have seen prices given to others of under $1k for the same item and same quantity. Obviously, there is room for negotiation there.

Regards,

Austin

Well, of course, an A12 film back is now £500 which is equally ridiculous really, but we'll cut them some slack. I think you could quite easily redesign the internals to cost far less, having repaired a couple of them now. In fact they may have already done this on the more recent A12 magazines. As far as the digital backs go, I would take some convincing to shell out far more than the cost of the camera plus lens just on the bit that holds the (digital) film. Especially when we all know that depreciation will be horrendous in the medium term. Let's say that a CFV is the equivalent of three A12 backs in terms of capacity and flexibility (ignoring the fact that it totally dishes my wideangle lenses). Then OK, I might be persuaded (just about) to buy one for the cost of three A12 backs, say £1500. Otherwise I'd much rather stick with film.

Like Mark I must be mad too,I have three backs and they have all paid

for themselves in around 12 months.

Hi Marc

since we're all paying for your backs (I definitely bought something recently) how about showing us some pictures taken with them....

The retail price for any industrial product has nothing to do with the cost for manufacturing including design and development.
The price a manufacturerer asks is only determinned by what he thinks his clients are prepared to pay.
Of course all with an eye on the competition.
