B50 Filter Question

Possibly a stupid question:
I just got a used B50 Polarizing Filter, and when I put it on any lens with the 50 bayonet and turn it clockwise it moves smoothly in. But unlike the lens shade on the outer bayonet the Filter does not click. It can be turned counter clockwise with the tip of a finger and could easily fall off the lens.
Since this is my first Hasselblad filter - am I missing something or is something wrong with the filter?

Any hint is greatly appreciated!

Best regards,
Manfred

The bajonet filters do not click (lock) into place. Unfortunately.. You sometimes can make the fit a bit tighter be carefully bending the filter's bajonet "fingers". But apart from that, I just trained myself to rotate my pola filters only in the "locking direction".

Thank you, Wilko, for your quick response! Then I can at least stop worrying if something's wrong with my filter. I tried the "finger" bending before I posted my question, but that does not help at all, and I don't want to overdo it and break something. Well, I guess I'll have to turn in one direction only and move about very carefully...

Thanks again,
Manfred

Had the same problem with the lens cap one my 80mm CFE. I never been able to figure out how to fix that problem.

The lens caps have the unfortunate tendency to be deteriorate when you tighten them. The grooves that fit the lens bajonet are slightly tapered which makes them "stick" on the lens. Over time the groves loose their taper and no longer clamp in place. I had a B60 cap like that, it basically refused to stay on the lens. New cap fixed that once and for all.

All in all it would have been nicer if Hasselblad had used a bit softer plastic for the caps. Same thing for the rear caps, they tend too loose their bajonet "teeth". The old style rear caps with =V= logo are much nicer, using softer, more pliable plastic. All my lenses have them fitted.

Newer != better :z04_nein1:

Generally I am not in favour of aftermarket gear but aftermarket body and lenscaps are made of softer material and are better fixed to a body or a lens....
