Anybody use Hassy Quick Coupling clamp H?

I am interested in getting the Hasselblad Quick Coupling clamp - the latest version Plate H - and wanted to hear from anyone who has used it?

I was looking at Foba clamp and plate (arca type) but I quite like the lever idea that the Hasselblad clamp has rather than the twist knob of the Foba. The spirit levels also look to be easier to use. Also I live in Ireland so importing RRS clamps or the like is too prohibitive.

I will be buying from the UK.

Look forward to hearing what you folk say about the Hassy clamps ability. I use a 503CW with 150mm and 80mm lenses.

Thanks.

As far as I'm aware the H Coupling is only for use on the H Series cameras, not the V (500) series.

I bought the Quick Coupling H last week for use with my H3D11 and love it. Very secure and the spirit levels are a bonus.

Hello Keith,

The new H series Quick coupling also takes V series cameras including the 903/905 SWC !

Older cameras may need the adapter plate 45152 formerly known as 45148.
This adapter plate is NLA from Hasselblad.
There must be a few floating around the world only not so easy to catch.

Hello Paul

Perhaps Hasselblad should call it the Quick Coupling HV

Hasselblad begins to look like a magician who suddenly comes up with nice surprises for the audience.
As long as they do that nobody will complain.

Hi folks - thanks for your replies.

Keith - where did you buy your H coupler from do you mind me asking?

Seoirse,
I use the QR clamp you ask about for my 503CW, 501CM and XPan II. It is excellent - strong, firm, adjustable and has a neat safety pin that the V series / XPan "foot" catches on to. It looks great and the spirit level is very visible.

Simon,

Thanks for your informative reply. That's exactly the type of endorsement I was looking for!

You have helped me make my mind up - the Quick Coupling H it is so.:)

Seoirse.

Which generation of cameras would need this adapter plate?

All H cameras and all V cameras that have the revised bottom with two rubber strips accept the new coupling.
Untill I recently found a 553ELX without the revised bottom I thought this change was introduced with the cameras number ending on 3.

It is clear the change was effective during the production of a number of camera models.
All models introduced and produced in or after 1994 have the new bottom for instance the 201F.

There used to be an adapter plate p.n. 45148, later p.n. 45152 that makes the use of the V/H
quick coupling possible for cameras that do not have the revised bottom.
The good news is all cameras can be mounted on the old quick coupling!

I also custom made some base plate for other cameras to use 45128.

Thanks for the info Paul.

It's really amazing the information one gets on this forum from people like you and other aficcionados - Thanks.

Hi folks,

just to let you know that I picked up a Hasselblad quick coupling clamp H from a chap on eBay in very good condition and it is brilliant.:D

So easy to slide the 503 on to it and it remains secure when you hear the safety pin click and you close the release arm on the side.

Just as easy to disconnect (but not by accident).

I'm delighted with it because I also acquired a Sinar Pan & Tilt head to couple with it and all of this goes on to the Berlebach 3032 tripod which has a levelling cup for convenience +/- 30 degrees.

The whole set up is very easy to level and is rock solid with no lens creep.

:)

Regards,
S.

PS..the Hasselblad Quick Clamp I got for £40 and the Sinar for just £11.50

Bargains.:D

You want pictures?...Ok then.

Here are some pictures of my set-up with :

Hasselblad Quick Coupling H

on a Sinar Pan and Tilt Head

on a Berlebach 3032 Tripod with built-in levelling cup.

Camera is Hasselblad 503CW.

(Sorry the pics aren't great but my digital point & shoot is cheap)

It's the business for me.:z04_carrot:
